It’s never been clearer: the illegal Hamas terrorists in Gaza and the terrorist-supporting Palestinian Authority in the West Bank are significant obstacles to peace.
There can be no two-state solution if the Palestinian leadership are intent on destroying one of those two states.
UK Foreign Sec @Ed_Miliband opened his announcement of Israel sanctions with "as a proud British Jew."
In a BBC intvw today he was asked abt Jews feeling unsafe in synagogues on Rosh Hashana (one of the 2 days when many secular Jews show up).
"I don't go to synagogue," he said.
As a scholar both of settlements and of antisemitism, I feel uniquely qualified to opine on the UK (and now Canadian and French) ban on settlement goods - a thread 🧵:

Shadow Foreign Secretary Tom Tugendhat has responded to Ed Miliband's new sanctions on Israeli settlements, claiming they are "wrong", and "will harm innocents" because the Israeli and Palestinian economies are "too interconnected".

The @nytimes has obtained a dossier indicating that Sudan's army built chlorine bombs and dropped them on its enemies.
The officer running the programme texted that the victims "drank the gas".
Some of the chlorine appears to have come from a water plant stocked by Western aid agencies to fight cholera.
Imagine, for one second, that Israel had done this. The globe would rock on its axis. Emergency sessions, marches, weeping newsreaders, the lot.
But it's the Sudanese Armed Forces. So nobody cares.

Here's a simple, democratic challenge to @Ed_Miliband: produce the evidence to support your lurid Gaza video, or withdraw the claims.
The Foreign Secretary recorded a video in which he recounted what he himself called “stories” he had been told, among them the claim that medicine was being kept out of the Strip, with children “dying” as a consequence.
He offered nothing to support it. No agency data, no named source, no figures on what crossed which crossing and when. Israel’s foreign ministry replied that there are no restrictions whatsoever on medicines entering Gaza, and suggested he might take an interest in facts rather than “stories”.
Assertions of this sort, made by a private citizen, are gossip. Made by a foreign secretary, with the machinery of the British state standing behind him, they become propaganda at best and, if they cannot be stood up, untruths at worst.
Britain has diplomats, defence attachés, an aid department and one of the finest intelligence services in the world. If the claim is true, the evidence must exist. Let us see it.
Because there is a bill attached to all this, and Mr Miliband is not the one who pays it.
Consider what he is so busy “resetting”. Around one in seven prescriptions dispensed in this country is filled by a single Israeli manufacturer, which employs more than 1,500 people here.
The swallowable camera capsule that the NHS has been giving to thousands of bowel patients was devised by an Israeli engineer who took the imaging optics out of a guided missile and turned them on the human gut.
When Challenger 3 enters service next year, our tank crews will sit behind an Israeli system that shoots incoming anti-tank rounds out of the air, bought for £20 million, which in defence procurement is a rounding error.
The Watchkeeper drone was assembled in Leicester. Trade between the two countries runs to £5.9 billion a year, and we sell them considerably more than we buy.
Then there is the part nobody puts in a video.
In 2015, acting on a tip-off from Israeli intelligence, MI5 and the Metropolitan Police searched four properties in north-west London and removed three tonnes of ammonium nitrate concealed inside ice packs. A Hezbollah bomb factory, on a residential street, in this city. That is one instance we happen to know about. The others, by their nature, we do not.
None of which obliges anybody to admire the Israeli government, and a British foreign secretary is perfectly entitled to criticise an ally in public. That is his job, and sometimes it is his duty. But he is not entitled to do it on the strength of “stories”.
That is what democracies are about. Scrutiny. I repeat: Produce the evidence, Mr Miliband, or withdraw the claims.
Full interview in first reply.
Two no-mark actors have quit a suicide prevention play because Maureen Lipman is Jewish and won’t apologise for it. Neither of them picked up the phone first and let her know, just went straight to their social media to strike a pose of moral superiority instead.
It’s a play about people nobody listened to until it was too late. Bit rich. Funny, for a play about listening.
The British Foreign Secretary @Ed_Miliband posts a video recounting “stories” he was told about Gaza.
If the Foreign Secretary were interested in facts rather than stories, he would know that there are no restrictions whatsoever on the entry of medicines into the Gaza Strip, and that no medicines are being blocked; that 22,500 tons of medical supplies have entered Gaza since the ceasefire began; and that Gazans exit the Strip for medical treatment, including 200 who did so in just the last two weeks.
And of course, the British Foreign Secretary is well aware of all this, as the UK is a member of the International Gaza Support Center, which facilitates the delivery of medical aid to the Gaza Strip.
But apparently, facts matter less (when making a video for a political audience).
How disgraceful that the Foreign Secretary @Ed_Miliband would rely on "stories" he is being told, rather than the hard facts, the evidence published by COGAT in the links below.
By repeating Hamas propaganda and whitewashing their continuing crimes he continues to fuel Jew-hate across the UK.

Today, as Palestinian @afalkhatib reveals, almost all of the hospitals in Gaza are being used by Hamas not only as headquarters but also places where they are imprisoning, torturing and killing fellow Gazans who dare to criticise this Islamo-fascist terror group.
This is no secret, other brave Palestinians have shown images of Gazans being sent letters demanding they appear in front of Hamas at hospitals and how they have even taken over hospital wings.
And @Ed_Miliband is meeting with doctors who work in those hospitals and taking what they say as a creed, and using it in revolting propaganda videos of his own.
The decision by Gerald McCarthy to withdraw from the West End production "Right Before I Go" - on account of his Jewish co-star Maureen Lipman's Support doe Israel is just another instance of the insidious campaign to ostracise Jews from public life and set the terms for continued acceptance...
Where does it end? Until every entertainer swears to their hatred of the world's only Jewish State to gain admission to the industry.
We need to speak up against the campaign of hatred & bigotry, and squarely behind every one of its would be victims, from Lipman to Gadot to...
The most bizarre element of this is that Right Before I Go uses a revolving cast, & it turns out Gerard McCarthy was NEVER DUE TO PERFORM ALONGSIDE MAUREEN LIPMAN.
But I guess they considered leaving an unpaid gig in return for fawning press coverage in Ireland a good trade.
