@EastLndonGroup @natlibscotmaps The 1860s OS map shows Ley Street as being further to the north of where the Eastern Avenue is now (arrowed). When they laid out Eastern Avenue in the mid-1920s they incorporated Oaks (later Hatch) Lane.

More research needed!

There's a possibility that part if not all of Horns Road was known as Ley Street in the past and Horns Road only came into being in the mid-1800s but this needs a bit of research.

On the penultimate day of our "rarely shown" theme that we've run this week here's "Shops - Ley Street" by Harold Steggles from 1927. Thanks to members of the Ilford Historical Society. the location has now been identified as being 126-132, Horns Road in Ilford. #HaroldSteggles

Kelly's Directories all had an accompanying map which showed the roads that existed at the time (although there are some errors). They fill in the gaps between the OS maps.
