We waited hoping that in the past year since an elected government came into being the National Conference would take action on the issue of undertrial prisoners lodged in jails outside Jammu & Kashmir. PDP even brought a resolution into the assembly advocating for this cause but unfortunately it was rejected.
After exhausting every other option the only recourse left was to approach the Hon’ble High Court on behalf of these prisoners languishing in jails alien from their homes & Kashmir.
The process itself has become punishment as they have yet to be proven guilty. Majority of these under trials hail from poor families lacking the wherewithal to defend themselves while being so far from their loved ones. I sincerely hope justice prevails.
Amid the ongoing Legislative Assembly session, two employees are terminated from service using Article 311. Three things emerge from this:
1. The entire elected assembly is useless/spineless/powerless for not even voicing these terminations.
2. Which other state or UT uses Article 311 to terminate employees so rampantly?
3. Most likely these terminated employees are slapped with PSAs and their accounts are frozen. How exactly is this terminated person supposed to prove his innocence if there has been a wrongful termination? And what is the method of investigation departmental or judicial?
These terminations, while aimed at rooting out threats, spotlight tensions between security imperatives and civil rights in J&K.

Removing the minimum education qualification as one of the criteria from the marriage assistance scheme is a retreat from progressive reforms. It's a bad precedent.
It is not only anti-intellectual and antediluvian but also the government washing its hands of the responsibility to educate the girl child or at least setting a regressive precedent for future governments. There was no need for such a step; every case needing relaxation should have been dealt with on a case-by-case basis. Because between now and 2028, if as usually happens , one discourages the girl child from studying, they will again expect a blanket discount on this criterion. So, to fix short-term inequities, the intellectually bankrupt government has chosen to take a step against the future of the girl child.
Aiming to promote female education, empower women, and foster family stability (of all kinds) requires long-term investment in the girl child. This shows we may or may not invest in your education, we may or may not invest in your job opportunities, and we may or may not treat you equally. This is a very bad precedent, and I reiterate: relaxation should be dealt with on a case-by-case basis.

The BJP’s threat to block the passage of the PDP’s land regularisation (anti-bulldozer) bill which they branded as the “Land Jihad Bill” was fulfilled today, ironically, by the ruling NC government itself. The Chief Minister, who had earlier assured that any pro people initiative from the PDP would face no obstacles under his leadership, has once again reneged on his word. This marks yet another U-turn added to his growing list of unfulfilled guarantees and promises.
It is deeply unfortunate that a bill aimed at securing a roof over the heads of the poorest of the poor is now being portrayed as an act of land grabbing. Even more tragic is that it was rejected by the very House these people overwhelmingly trusted and elected barely a year ago.
CM @OmarAbdullah has outrightly rejected PDP MLA @parawahid’s “J&K “Anti-Bulldozer” Bill
In a shocking move, NC MLAs joined hands with the BJP to vote against the bill denying thousands of poor residents their right to land and dignity.
As the J&K Assembly reconvenes , one of the most pressing issues that requires immediate attention is the plight of nearly one lakh daily wagers. These workers, often from the most marginalized sections of society, have been the backbone of many government departments, ensuring their smooth functioning. It is crucial that all MLAs, along with the ruling party, unite to address this issue and ensure the regularization of these workers, so they can receive the dignity and job security they rightfully deserve.
Iltija Mufti expressed her deep concern over the current government's failure to deliver on its election promises. She highlighted pressing issues like the lack of scheduled power supply, despite pre-election promises of free electricity units, and the unaddressed concerns of daily wagers and reservation policy.

PDP leader @ZuhaibYousf Mir says Omar Abdullah is completely surrendering before the BJP. He said that Omar’s leadership has not only compromised the political aspirations of the people but has also failed miserably in bringing any real development or good governance to J&K. He stated that the NC’s approach has weakened the voice of the common people and pushed the region further into political uncertainty.

It’s time the Government of India undertakes a sincere and thorough appraisal of what has truly changed since 2019. This video isn’t from the Kashmir Valley considered the epicentre of unrest but from the heart of Ladakh, where angry protesters have set police vehicles and a BJP office on fire.
Leh, a region long known for its peaceful and measured protests, is now witnessing a disturbing shift toward violent demonstrations. People seem to have lost patience , feel betrayed, insecure, and let down by unfulfilled promises.
It is imperative that the Government move beyond day to day crisis management and address the root causes of this discontent urgently and transparently.
