@TexasAuburnFan@beacHboy_0@geoffschwartz Havnt seen the stuff about Cincy. But he hasn’t actually played for tech yet so idk how that would have even happened. But yeah if it happened at Cincy and while he was actually in a game that’s a big difference
@beacHboy_0@TexasAuburnFan@geoffschwartz Unless I’m wrong he was only gambling as a true freshman which was like 4 years ago. So he has been playing football and you don’t know of the details of his treatment. But he did post an apology and acknowledgement and you can’t blame him got trying to keep his money lmao
@TexasAuburnFan@geoffschwartz He should’ve been punished by the NCAA and never allowed to play college ball again. But the NFL banning him for a year for breaking other organization rules but then having lower standards for their own players just seems like they have their priorities wrong
@patrickadawson3@TexasAuburnFan@geoffschwartz He placed bets on NCAA teams that violated NCAA regulations not NFL. Breaking a different organizations set of rules and then being banned a year from the NFL seems like an overstep
I do find it interesting that THIS is the thing the NFL will put a line in the sand for. But every other week someone beats the shit out of their wife and if they can pay them off in time they get to be back at practice the following week
I understand why the NFL is drawing a hard line on gambling.
The thing I can’t square is the NFL making a ruling on what a player did in the NCAA. Two separate organizations and leagues.
Whatever you think about Sorbsy the NFL just set a very weird precedent essentially suspending a player for 1 year that wasn’t in the NFL and thus broke no NFL rules.
NFLPA probably isn’t overly motivated to fight for him either. Sorsby isn’t in the union…
Brandon Sorsby was wrong.
The @NFL was right to punish him.
The NFL was also wrong for reminding everyone that gambling on football gets treated more harshly than beating women and other criminal behavior.
Both things can be true.
@TexasAuburnFan@geoffschwartz Sorsby gambled on his college team 4 years ago and is punished harsher than current nfl players who get arrested. Players beat their wives and get maybe a 4 game suspension. Yeah he was wrong but he didn’t violate an NFL rule and is being punished too harshly
