For years, centralized exchanges (CEXs) have been the easiest place for traders to access crypto markets.

The experience is familiar deposit funds, choose a market, place a trade, and manage your position from one interface.

But convenience comes with a trade-off.

On a centralized exchange, users generally rely on the platform to custody assets, execute trades, and manage important parts of the trading infrastructure.

This is where decentralized exchanges (DEXs) offer a different model.

The DEX Approach

DEXs are built around greater transparency and user control. Instead of depending entirely on a centralized intermediary, blockchain infrastructure can make transactions and market activity more verifiable.

The challenge has always been making that transparency feel as convenient as a CEX.

If decentralized trading is too slow, complicated, or fragmented, traders may simply stay with centralized platforms.
