Justin Fields was asked how disappointed he is about being in this position:
"I'm at peace, brother. That's what it is. When you're really in tune with God, nothing can actually like... I'm not even going to speak to what I was about to say as an example, but literally everything around me can 'be negative' in terms of the world, but I promise you, there's nothing in this world, there's nothing that can faze me and that's just due to my relationship with the Lord. It's not on me."
This is not on the players!! This is a terrible call for the situation. Why call a coverage where you don’t have any deep help knowing they have to go deep. Defend the end zone keep the ball in bounds and you win.
Very impressive performance by Matt Patricia's entire secondary/defense. In addition to Caleb Downs, the #Buckeyes' CB duo of Davison Igbinosun and Jermaine Mathews Jr. were outstanding.
One GM in attendance said of Igbinosun: "Prototypical size and length, but he can really press you. I thought he was dominant today."
Similar praise for Mathews Jr: "Not just impressive ball skills, but you just love how well he tackles, which is rare for a young DB. Very sound football player."
Spoke with a few NFL GMs in attendance for Ohio State vs Texas. Unanimous agreement that #Buckeyes' safety Caleb Downs is a sensational prospect:
• "Flawless instincts"
• "Highly intelligent"
• "Scary closing speed"
But maybe my favorite quote: "There's some Earl Thomas and Eric Berry to him. Just a special, special player."
