A more fusogenic virus isn't just involved in fusion during the entry process, because there's generally a lot of furin around in a host cell, particularly in the compartments used to shuttle newly synthesized viral proteins to the cell surface for assembly of new virus particles

And it's not engineered because 1. it's suboptimal. It's not cut by furin as efficiently as a canonical site. 2. why would you add a FCS only to include an unusual one that isn't as good as another? Why not add the FCS from, say, MERS-CoV, that we know is more efficient?

...it's actually a stronger argument for natural origin because the original SARS-CoV-2 FCS is actually pretty suboptimal. There are furin sites in many, many proteins in viruses and vertebrates alike. The canonical furin site is RX(R/K)R. The FCS is SARS2 is PRRAR. It's unusual.

As with all biology, there is a mechanism underlying this. An FCS is one mechanism used by some CoVs to cleave at the S1/S2 junction. There are other endosomal proteases besides furin that can also do this. While pointing to the FCS is one thing lab leak proponents like to do...
