If anyone knows any young people (18-25 yrs) looking for 5 months full time school experience with leadership development focus (CV workshops, mock interviews, leadership courses), travel expenses and daily living allowance included, let me know! #volunteering#edutwitter
Since 2010, 1,169 young people have put on the red jacket and served 1,917,160 hours as volunteer mentors to help improve childrens' lives in the UK #WorldChildrensDay
Emma has chosen #PITW 179: 'Become your message' this week to help focus the team's service in school. She shared that, to her, this meant all of us displaying the behaviours and expectations that we have of the children so they understand what they can achieve. #rolemodels
This week, Lead VM Sophia is focusing on #PITW 114: Seek to move out of your "comfort zone" and into your "challenge zone".
When have you followed this advice? In what ways did it pay off? We're doing it every day in our #yearofservice.
@CityYearUkGM@CityYearUK
We've reflected this week that it can sometimes be easy to, in the madness of the end of half term, forget the impact we're having but it's so important that we remember the ways we are making a difference to the young lives we serve.
#ayearofservice#cityyear@CityYearUK
@CityYearUkGM@CityYearUK She chose this as she feels it is perfectly fitting in today's chaotic world and that with a little more courtesy we could achieve a lot more. @lanaharold
This week we're focusing on #PITW85: Celebrate achievement. This will be easy on a week with our 1-1 check ins; recognising all the wonderful things we've done in school so far!
Lana has just got in from a lunchtime playing these games: "I had such a good lunch time with the kids, it was the best one yet. The kids loved some of those games, even the boys who normally just play football!"
Very lucky to have learnt from Dave @ThriveMcr this morning to share ideas for playground games we can use to help the children get the physical activity they need to focus on their development. Thanks @BaguleyHallPri for organising for us! #inspired#physicalhealth
On Friday, the volunteers in Manchester had to build a tower as part of their Leadership Development journey. The tower had to be made according to strict guidelines shared out between them in secret. Very important to share these, but they could only communicate non-verbally.
