That's historical revisionism. Many workplace improvements became affordable because capitalism massively increased productivity and wealth. Laws often codified changes that rising living standards had already made possible, while some regulations also created new barriers and unintended consequences.

Child labor declined primarily because families became wealthy enough that children no longer had to work. The five-day workweek and shorter hours spread as productivity rose. Unions sometimes improved bargaining power, but they also protected insiders at the expense of outsiders. Minimum wage laws don't "protect" everyone—they legally price some of the least-skilled workers out of the job market. Lumping all of these together as "protection from capitalism" ignores the role capitalism played in making them economically possible in the first place.

We continue to carry out our deep and mid-range strikes against Russian infrastructure facilities that prop up Russia’s aggression. Our strikes under the long-range sanctions plan are always about justified responses aimed at depriving the Russian war machine of its resources. In particular, today action was taken against three logistics centers in different regions of the Russian Federation – in Sarapul, Kazan, and Volgograd, at distances ranging from around 500 to nearly 1,300 kilometers.

Most of these people will tell you straight up that the dictators we had for those years were installed by the CIA OR were dispatched by the CIA before they could positively impact Nigeria.

And this bothers me, actually, because this makes the theory unfalsifiable.

If what we need is a dictatorship, but that dictatorship is also vulnerable to neocolonialism, then what exactly is the point of the dictatorship?

European nations have agreed to boycott the World Cup over FIFA’s plans to sell stakes in the tournament to private investors.

The decision was taken at a virtual meeting of the 55 national associations which are members of UEFA, the European football confederation, on Thursday, according to sources with knowledge of the meeting.

The next World Cup in the calendar is the women’s edition in Brazil next summer, followed by the men’s tournament in Spain, Portugal and Morocco in 2030.
