🛑The Red Cross now admits more Israeli hostages might have been saved.

THREE YEARS AFTER OCTOBER 7.

For more than two years, Israeli hostages endured Hamas captivity. They were starved, tortured and denied basic medical care. The Red Cross never gained access to visit them.

Now, Red Cross President Mirjana Spoljaric acknowledges that earlier pressure might have saved more lives.

Where was that pressure when hostages were dying? Where was the urgency when families were desperately pleading for help?

Hamas bears responsibility for these atrocities. But the Red Cross must answer for its own failures.

The hostages needed action, not explanations years later.

Too late for those who never came home alive. Too late for the families who buried them.

Zumindest den Mann, der als sein Vorbild gilt. ⚓💪

Er hieß Frank „Rocky“ Fiegel, wurde 1868 geboren, hatte polnische Wurzeln und lebte in Chester, Illinois.

Drahtiger Körper, markantes Kinn, Pfeife im Mund und ein ausgesprochen überzeugender rechter Haken.

In der Taverne Wiebusch soll er fürs Saubermachen und für Ordnung zuständig gewesen sein. Dort hat er den Boden gewischt und wer Ärger machte, der bekam von Fiegel auch eine gewischt.

Seine Schlagkraft hatte ihn zum örtlichen Original gemacht. Die Stadtbibliothek von Chester beschreibt ihn als einen Mann, nie einen Kampf verlor.

Die von dem Popeye Zeichner Maritime Cyprus, der Fiegel persönlich kannte, erzählte Version liefert dazu die geradezu filmreifen Einzelheiten:

Rocky sei ein pensionierter Seemann gewesen, sein Auge durch die vielen Schlägereien verformt. Und weil ständig eine Pfeife in seinem Mundwinkel klemmte, habe er nur mit einer Mundseite gesprochen. Das schiefe Gesicht, die Pfeife, die Fäuste – praktisch die komplette Popeye-Figur, bevor jemand sie zeichnete.

Bei Kindern zeigte der raue Geselle seine weiche Seite: Er half ihnen, steckte ihnen Kleingeld zu und beschützte sie vor Rüpeln.

Rocky erzählte den Kindern von seinen Jugendstreichen und behauptete, dass seine Kraft auf Spinat basiere, der damals als besonders gesund für Kinder galt.

Generationen von Kindern haben immer brav ihren Spinat gegessen und schuld daran ist eine kleine Schwindelei von Frank „Rocky“ Fiegel und der Figur Popeye, die man nach ihm zeichnete. 😂
