American workers and high-skilled immigrants from the world joined force to campaign for #WeBackDurbin and #DurbinFightsOutsourcersLie. The campaign is against the outsourcers’ #S386 bill that benefits one foreign country at the expense of American workers and other immigrants.
@bklyn_skater@Genna_Douglas@ImmigrActivists I’m an H1B holder. I am potentially affected by the change and I don’t think you know what you are talking about. There has been bipartisan legislation to issue H1B based on wage level. Get off MSM, review your white privilege and do your own research.
@The_Americat I deleted my other tweet cuz after some research, it seems to be the same spending bill for the rest of the fiscal year? So not just a stimulus bill.
Glad S386 is over. It means there is still a chance for the grassroot voices to be effective, however weaker and weaker the chance is becoming. The fight could be avoided and good immigrants would be better-off if the politicians answered to the people, not special interests.
@ckuck The limit on H1B adjustment is also terrible for Indians. “We want to clear the backlog as soon as possible. And we want to set a limit on it. How’s that?”
Another problem with the Senate version of the bill: how the hell will DHS implement the 70% or 50% restriction on H1B -> GC conversion? It’s NOT compatible with the EB system. I’m fine with redesigning the system, but not having TWO SYSTEMS at once.
The Chinese Exclusion Act started out as a measure against Qing Dynasty. However, the bill affected Chinese in the post-Qing era until after WWII. Now S386 may do the same. Singling out any country in a bill is never a good idea. Let the executive branch to decide.
@ckuck@josh_tech818@cyrusmehta “Affiliated” is not the key. The mentioning of a specific nationality is. Laws are difficult to change in a bill. What if foreign relations change in the future? What if something change in China? It took KMT being an US ally for decades before getting rid of Chinese Exclusion Act
Right before Sen. Mike Lee brought up his Big Tech Green Card giveaway bill for a UC vote today, he was the lone vote against a bill to eliminate the five-month waiting period for disability insurance benefits for individuals with ALS.
Let that sink in.
No comments on the anti-CCP clause, for my personal safety. But I do want to point out the last time a nationality was mentioned in a restrictive clause, it was the Chinese Exclusion Act.
OMG this is the single stupidest take I’ve seen in this election cycle. With another SCOTUS confirmation coming up, will anyone with common sense think Bush will endorse Biden? The only white privilege in this country is that white liberals can make a living by writing bull craps
Former President George W. Bush's endorsement of Biden would put an end to the Trump presidency and save the country and the GOP from itself | By Arick Wierson and Bradley Honan for @CNNOpinion https://t.co/Ft7PoF7uOE
