@TaylorLorenz Passion Economy = doing something you like for no money unless you make it big
Gig Economy = doing something you probably don't like for little money
Starting to worry over here that "economy" may be the problem.
@TaylorLorenz It really does sound like corporate marketing doublespeak, and I hate it. Like, we’ve made traditional paths of work advancement and success so scarce that people feel hopeless. Let’s call their desperation “passion!”
@TaylorLorenz I stay away from using the phrase “passion economy” for this very reason.
It’s a “Creators Economy” and the creators are people that want to live their life on their own terms.
Whether that’s creating a SaaS product, newsletter or community.
@VOTEBLUEPLEASE@davenewworld_2 That’s why all this language is deception. There was a small minority planning violence (the zip ties and the Molotov cocktails they found) but most were trespassing, trying to stop the vote. They had no established leadership to take over... it wasn’t an insurrection or a coup
@6pixiestix @LutherBeckett Excuse me—but you’ve swallowed sexism whole because you spoke like a man policing a woman’s mouth. You’re on here cheering for laughing it up that AOC feared for her life. That’s not compassionate—at all.
The attack on the Capitol was coordinated and planned.
Here are the insurrectionists talking about the plan, including detailed schematics of the Capitol building.

.@AOC just told viewers on Instagram Live that she had a "close encounter" during the attacks on the Capitol in which she thought she might die. Said she cannot disclose full details out of security concerns.
When I taught college I would let my students call me by my first name. They reacted like I told them they could smoke pot in class or something. Not all, but so many academics take themselves way too seriously.
