A defining moment for strategic infrastructure in the Northeast—Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi Ji made a historic landing aboard a C-130J🛩️ at the Emergency Landing Facility (ELF) on the Moran Bypass, marking the region’s first highway airstrip.
The 4.2-km ELF, developed by NHIDCL on NH-37 (New NH-02) between Km 550.600–554.800, is part of the Demow–Moran four-laning project, executed in close coordination with the Indian Air Force at a cost of ₹99.86 crore.
Designed as dual-use strategic infrastructure, it can handle fighter aircraft up to 40 tonnes and transport aircraft up to 74 tonnes, with traffic diversion via Moran Town during activation. Passing through multiple villages under Moran Circle in Dibrugarh, Assam, the project strengthens national security, disaster response, and regional connectivity.
