These are all political choices, including keeping benefits below the poverty line.
We will repeal these violent policies that will only increase hardship and introduce an Income Guarantee to lift all families out of poverty so people can also find employment on their terms.
3 things:
1) having 1/2 your payment be put onto a payment card that can only be spent at a very short list of places, what if your rent is more than half your WINZ payment?
2) this is just going to increase crime and homelessness
3) ‼️STOP SANCTIONING PEOPLE TRYNA SURVIVE‼️
This Govt is taking us backwards by ditching the subsidy which would've ensured all disabled ppl can be paid a min wage along w/ everyone else - the entire point of a MINIMUM is it's the floor w/o any exceptions. Appreciate @RMarchNZ advocacy here https://t.co/GIo0Z6BOre
2/2
We know interdependence intimately. For those needing the most attentive & specialised care, respite cuts risk burning out families & more chance of disabled ppl separated from them living in institutional residential settings. This bc of political decisions
1/2 The cuts to disability funding were one more reminder to disabled people & whānau of being devalued, seen as $ units rather than as people. And that's just one out of many cuts impacting our community.
https://t.co/c6y392dBgT
And we remind the ministers - disabled people globally are on the frontlines of climate breakdown and environmental injustices. So make sure to back our disabled leadership when figuring out how to adapt as there's no climate justice without us ✊2/2
Epic to be part of the 20,000 strong crowd marching for Tiriti and taiao today! The call for the Government to stop its destructive, anti-Tiriti, anti-democratic Fast Track bill was loud and clear. 1/2
Political decisions not to ensure liveable incomes for all funnel ppl into poverty, and then more Govt decisions trap them there. This isn't a Govt for all NZers, it's a govt for financially comfortable non-disabled Pākehā. https://t.co/UvDXVbgqa8
The funding for disability services looks like a bear minimum to us, and more importantly the restrictions on flexible funding remain. The Government know that that's not good enough and that this ableist review of disability support they've created only erodes trust more.
Great rally against Whaikaha funding cuts at Parliament today!
Inclusive Greens and many of our Green MPs were there today and we joined many other speakers in sharing these messages
Speaking Co-Convenors @carroll_jonty @ainekc95 and @KahurangiMP
With Covid rates on the up, we're looking out for $$ in the budget to continue free RATS, free vaccines + access to antivirals. And for all eligible, remember to get your next Covid booster! https://t.co/J3lns9hnau

You know what area of under-performance Kāinga Ora, and esp Minister Bishop,, should pay attention to? The massive lack of accessible public housing - means disabled ppl & whānau get stuck on the waitlists longer, leads to more stress/poverty/illness https://t.co/lwh9JGw3Pt
The intercity buses are not physically accessible so protecting the Te Huia train trial is especially important for disabled people. Sign > https://t.co/IPV3tiLdNf
Solidarity with Stiffany. Greens have long opposed the unjust Acceptable Standard of Health requirements. Successive govts have been responsible for allowing this discrimination to continue while the Minister of Immigration has the power to end it immediately. #EndASHNow
Migrants like Stiffany should have equal chances to be granted visas and stay in NZ without having to prove economic worth. It's such a deficit-based and degrading policy. Fingers crossed for Stiffany. https://t.co/CgXJIo7iYV
As @RMarchNZ says, poverty is a political choice.
Time to end sanctions. Also, recognise disabled ppl know our own income & job support needs best & overhaul welfare support accordingly. https://t.co/XJvvcwvRDN
This Govt's phone ban esp in break times is alienating for many disabled & neurodivergent students. Students say using phones is stigmatising even if they do have an exemption. https://t.co/GLwEdFBE7g
Mihi to our co-leader & IG member member @_chloeswarbrick for championing consensus-building so ppl w/ ADHD face fewer barriers to treatment. Mihi also to Dr Hanne who put his ability to practice on the line by continuing treating his patients w/ ADHD

Inclusive Greens pays tribute to an outstanding leader in our disability community Sir Robert Martin KNZM. To honour his legacy, we have written about his life and included lots of Sir Robert's own words. E te rangatira, rest in power and love. https://t.co/vRskjxRrnf
