Yet another Belgian war cemetery has been vandalised this one at Houthulst around 135 have been vandalised with what looks as though the bronze plaques have been ripped off & stolen, along with headstones being smashed in the process. This is so heartbreaking to see happening here in Flanders, very sad.

Some lowlifes have stolen bronze plaques from the German military cemetery at Saint-Laurent-Blangy near Arras in northern France.
The cemetery is the resting place of nearly 40,000 soldiers, the vast majority of whom died in the Great War, as well as some from World War Two.
The bronze plaques bore the names of those who rest in the mass graves.
January 24, 1944 | The Litzmannstadt Gestapo informs the Auschwitz Kommandant's office that documents that belonged to deceased prisoners are to be destroyed immediately on site.
Their families are to be informed that the property of their relatives will not be returned to them.
25 January 1935 | Dutch Jewish boy, John Groenteman, was born in Amsterdam.
He was deported to #Auschwitz from #Westerbork in September 1942. He was murdered in a gas chamber after arrival selection.
This year, we hosted a number of burial services across our sites worldwide. We are deeply grateful to all our colleagues who worked tirelessly to help organise these events.
In October, we hosted an incredibly poignant ceremony at our Poelcapelle British Cemetery in Belgium where an unknown British soldier and an unknown German soldier, discovered together in a shell hole, were laid to rest in a single coffin.

20 December 1938 | French Jewish girl Eveline Stabryd was born in Paris.
She arrived at #Auschwitz on 21 August 1942 in a transport of 1,000 Jews deported from Drancy. She was among 817 of them murdered in a gas chamber after the selection.
