India 360 tracks:

In Parliament today I proposed optional Joint filing of Income Tax Returns for married couples.
Family A
Both spouses earn ₹10 lakh each.
Total household income is ₹20 lakh.
Tax: zero
Family B
One spouse earns ₹20 lakh. The other stays home to raise their child.
Total household income is ₹20 lakh.
Tax: ₹1.92 lakh
The only difference is how the salary is split between the two spouses.
One roof. One kitchen. One household budget. But when tax time comes, the family disappears.
The tax system sees two individuals. A husband and wife become strangers. No clubbing of income or rebates.
In Parliament today I proposed optional joint filing of Income Tax Returns for married couples, so families with uneven incomes are not unfairly penalised. If implemented, then Family A and Family B both will pay Zero Tax.
In the Assembly, Deputy CM @sanghaviharsh clarified the amendment is about parental notification, not mandatory consent, aimed at preventing misuse of the registration process where people allegedly hide or fake identities to trap young girls contrary to some media headlines

2016: 22 people died on the Mumbai–Goa Highway when a British-era 100 years old bridge collapsed into the Savitri River near Mahad.
2026: Noida. Another deadly incident. Another avoidable death.

This creates a simple political incentive.
Reward the groups that consistently show up on polling day.
Not because it’s “right” or “wrong”,
but because that’s how electoral politics works.

As the Budget approaches, many posts will talk about how the Indian middle class:
– pays a significant share of taxes
– gets limited direct benefits
– funds freebies and vote-bank schemes
– and still drives on broken roads
4/
Across India, post-poll surveys and voting trends consistently show this:
Lower-income and beneficiary-heavy groups tend to vote more reliably.
Urban and middle-class turnout tends to be lower.
