Response to Dr Raghuram Rajan's post on monetization, in consultation with Warren Mosler @wbmosler in his words:
Raghuram Rajan: monetization is neither a game changer in stressed times nor a catastrophe. It helps a little at the margin.

Here is why mainstream economic thinking in #India is squarely wrong about the economic relations between the union government and the state governments. The flawed understanding is the fundamental reason behind state are suffering, and the standard of living of the masses is nowhere close to what it should have been in one of the biggest economies in the world! #MMT

Agriculture contributes around 16% of India’s GDP while employing around 45% of the country’s workforce.
Many people remain in agriculture because they have limited alternative options.
Unless we create more non farm and manufacturing jobs, it will be very difficult to sustainably increase our GDP growth rate and improve per capita incomes.
For example, textiles is a highly labour intensive industry. It is expected to create millions of jobs in the coming years. However, most textile projects tend to go to a select few states.
The textile industry does not require highly specialized skills. Unskilled workers can be trained relatively quickly. These are low hanging fruits for employment generation. Why aren’t more states actively pursuing this opportunity?
The questions raised here are important. But they cannot be fully answered without first understanding the monetary architecture of a sovereign fiat system. I've examined this in my Kerala White Paper series and related articles.

@cnemalek About the job, nobody has to worry, as much more than what the jobs would've produced would be produced by that Superintelligence and distributed to all - the entire humanity.
The DMK Government has unearthed Rs 12,078 Cr lying unutilized, @dmuthuk is in a tearing hurry to give credit to the present government.
Budget Speech of Thiru. Thangam Thenarasu, Minister for Finance on 17th February 2026:
You're trying really hard to give credit to TVK Govt, but the fact is the STF was launched by @ptrmadurai
The figure of over ₹12,078 crore in dormant and unutilised funds was reported as cumulative progress in Tamil Nadu’s 2026-27 Interim Budget presented on 17 February 2026.
"World hunger is not caused by a piece of bread thrown away but by a global economic system based solely on profit"
What a Statement?
Economic system which gained a major shift in 1971 unleashing the immense power of public capital is hidden, thereby continuing profit seeking.

Corruption free governance is good, but it will not put food on the plates of poor!
This government till now appears to be overwhelming Tamilnadu with narrative, rather than issues connected with 2 Cr people dependent on welfare schemes.

@dmuthuk Mr Muthu, still you are hiding the fact that the Special Task Force was the initiative of PTR and it is the DMK Government which unearthed the unutilised amount.

Sometimes, mainstream media overlook important developments that truly matter.
A Special Task Force set up by the current Tamil Nadu government has identified ₹11,526 crore lying unutilised - and even dormant - in bank accounts of various government departments and local bodies.
This substantial amount has now been fully remitted back to the state treasury.
For context, ₹11,526 crore is a significant sum even for a state government.
This swift identification and recovery reflects genuine efficiency and fiscal responsibility.

Thought provoking article by the distingushed economist Dr. Anoop Singh which we discussed in Delhi last evening.
Around the world, improved fiscal management and enhanced execution efficiency are the burning needs of all governments at all levels
I was often accused of having a "corporate" attitude when I stressed the need for managing finances professionally, and improving the execution capabilites of all departments. In fact, bringing "corporate"-level professionalism and performance management should be encouraged, not resisted...
