One of my office colleagues was returning home late at night after completing his work at the office. As I have been told, due to exhaustion and lack of sleep for the past two days, he may have dozed off while driving, causing the car to climb onto the divider and sustain significant damage. He also suffered serious injuries and is currently under medical care.
The rest is in God’s hands. I sincerely pray to the Almighty for his speedy recovery and good health.
This incident once again highlights the immense pressure and workload that people are being subjected to. To hell with such work that comes at the cost of someone’s health and safety.

30th September is approaching. Tax professionals are already working under immense pressure.

But the question remains: why is ICAI not actively seeking a Tax Audit extension this year?

An extension is not about avoiding responsibility. It is about giving CAs adequate time for quality audit, verification and accurate reporting.

ICAI should consider the concerns of the profession and take up the matter with CBDT.

🤔 - The Income Tax Department is unnecessarily consuming its own time and the valuable time of the Hon'ble High Court on an issue that is largely practical in nature.

The matter is now listed before the Rajasthan High Court on 25.09.2026. Considering the ground realities, the Department should extend the due date without further litigation.

It is a fact that the effective time available for tax audits has been reduced after the rationalization of non-audit ITR due dates. Expecting the same volume of audit work to be completed within a shorter practical timeframe only increases compliance pressure on taxpayers, trade bodies, and tax professionals.

A timely administrative decision would be far more efficient than prolonged court proceedings.
