There has also been a trace of personal diplomacy between Taiwan and India. In 1999, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Taiwan as the BJP general secretary, and it is no coincidence that in 2011, he invited the largest-ever business delegation from Taiwan to Gujarat. It's unclear why such visits have become less frequent. Given the increased autonomy of state governments, visits by state leaders and parliamentarians could significantly contribute to India's long-term investment and semiconductor goals.
