A New Chapter in INDICA’s Journey
INDICA is delighted to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with Central Sanskrit University (CSU) @CentralSanskrit, marking the beginning of a long-term institutional partnership for advancing Indian Knowledge Systems, Culture and Traditions.
The partnership brings together the complementary strengths of CSU and INDICA to create new possibilities in education, research, publications, curriculum development, digital initiatives, faculty and scholar engagement, capacity building and public outreach.
The MoU provides a broad framework for developing academic programmes and educational resources, undertaking collaborative research and documentation, creating knowledge resources, and exploring Centres of Excellence, Chairs, Research Centres, Fellowships and other institutional initiatives.
Following the signing and exchange, the MoU was reverentially offered at the feet of Śrī Gaṇeśa and Maharṣi Vyāsa, seeking their blessings for the journey ahead.
For INDICA, this partnership marks an important step in our continuing endeavour to preserve, protect, promote, present, advance and transmit India’s civilisational knowledge systems, culture and traditions.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Prof. Shrinivasa Varakhedi (@shrivarakhedi), Vice-Chancellor, Central Sanskrit University, and the entire CSU team for their vision, trust and commitment in bringing this partnership together.
We look forward to all that we can build together.

As #Bhārata resounds with the worship of the Divine Mother during #Navarātri, every region celebrates Her glory in its own distinctive way. From the colourful Bommai Kolu displays of the South to Gujarat’s #Garbā, the #Rāmlīlā of the North and the grand #DurgāPūjā of #Bengal, the festival brings alive a rich diversity of devotion, tradition and community.
Each celebration honours the Divine Mother and the triumph of #Dharma, reminding us of the Ṛgvedic wisdom, Ekam Sat Viprā Bahudhā Vadanti: Truth is One, the wise call it by many names. A piece by Sindhuja Ramasubramanian (@LitDayOwl)

Mā Chandraghaṇṭā, worshipped on the third day of #Navarātri, is the warrior form of #Parvati after her marriage to Lord Shiva. She bears a crescent moon like a bell (ghaṇṭā) on her forehead, which gives her the name Chandraghaṇṭā.
Mounted on a tiger, she carries weapons in her ten hands and radiates valor. She is both fierce towards evil and compassionate towards her devotees. Worship of Mā Chandraghaṇṭā bestows courage, clarity and protection, guiding seekers to balance strength with serenity.
With devotion and gratitude, Dr. Yogini Deshpande @yoginisd, chief editor of INDICA Today offers this presentation at the feet of Mā.

Mā #Brahmachārini, worshipped on the second day of Navarātri, is the form of #Pārvati who performed severe tapas to attain #Shiva as her consort. Born as the daughter of Himavān after Sati’s self-immolation, she undertook thousands of years of austerities - living on fruits, leaves and later without food or water, yet her devotion never wavered. Pleased, Shiva accepted her.
Depicted with a rosary and kamandalu, she symbolizes śraddhā, dhṛti, tapas, guiding devotees towards discipline, strength and unwavering faith in their spiritual journey.
In this video, Padmashree Malini Awasthi, @maliniawasthi beautifully brings her story to life.

#ŚāradīyaNavarātri, the nine nights of devotion to the Divine Mother, begins today.
वन्दे वाञ्छितलाभाय चन्द्रार्धकृतशेखराम् ।

On this first day, we worship Mata #Shailputri, daughter of the Himalayas, who rides a bull and holds a lotus and trident, symbolising purity, strength, and resolve.
Featured in today’s video, Anshu Dubey-ji (@AnshuDubey27 ) shares insights on the arrival and worship of Himaputri Mata Shailputri. May the grace of divine Mata bless us with stability and courage as we begin this sacred journey of Navarātri.

As Śāradīya Navarātri begins, the #Mahābhārata offers a striking glimpse of Arjuna’s worship of the Divine Mother on the eve of the #Kurukṣetra war. At Śrī Kṛṣṇa’s instruction, Arjuna invokes #Durgā as #Kāli, #Bhadrakāli, #Kātyāyanī, Kauśikī, Brahmavidyā, #Sarasvatī and Vedamātā.
The Durgā Stotra (#BhīṣmaParva, Chapter 23, Gītā Press edition) brings these many names together in a prayer that culminates in the Goddess’s assurance of victory. May the Divine Mother bless us all with Her grace. A piece by Devamalya De (@whiffofreshair )

Mahalaya: From the remembrance of our ancestors to the invocation of the Divine Mother
Mahalaya holds a special place in the Hindu calendar. It brings #PitṛPakṣa to its close and marks the transition to #DeviPakṣa, the period leading to the worship of Maa Durga. It is a day of remembrance, prayer and anticipation.
During Pitṛ Pakṣa, we offer śrāddha and tarpana to our ancestors. We remember those whose lives made ours possible, those whose names we carry and whose gifts continue to live through us. These offerings express śraddhā, our faith and gratitude towards the Pitṛs.
Yet remembrance can be deeply personal. The loss of a parent, the memories of a loved one, the longing to understand what happens after death - these are questions that touch us all. The essay Mahalaya – Pitrupaksh – The Realm of Our Ancestors (https://t.co/NwHMUmMinG) by Aditi Banerjee (@Abaner01) takes us into this intimate space, bringing the Hindu understanding of the Pitṛs into conversation with a daughter's love for her father.
And as the ancestral fortnight draws to a close, our attention turns towards Maa Durga.
She is the #UniversalMother, the unconquerable #Śakti who protects, nurtures and empowers. Her many forms remind us that the Mother who cares for her children is also the force that confronts adharma and protects the world. The invocation Yā Devī Sarvabhūteṣu Mātṛrūpeṇa Saṃsthitā salutes the #Goddess who abides in all beings as the Mother.
#Mahalaya brings these two sentiments together - gratitude for those who came before us and devotion to the Mother who sustains all life.
As we remember our Pitṛs and prepare to welcome Maa #Durga, may our prayers carry gratitude, our hearts hold devotion, and our homes welcome Her with love.

The Art of a Meaningful Life
The three-day retreat “The Art of a Meaningful Life: Timeless Wisdom from Sādhanā-Pañcakam” ends at Indica Gurukulam @ Ritambhara Retreat, Bengaluru, after an immersive exploration of the teachings attributed to Ādi Śaṅkarācārya.
Led by Swami Chidananda, Vedanta teacher and Head of FOWAI Forum, the retreat engaged participants with the five verses and forty practical instructions of Sādhanā-Pañcakam as a framework for living with greater clarity, fulfilment and inner freedom.
The sessions explored hidden human potential, values that nurture inner strength, the limitations of worldly accomplishment, the deeper source of lasting happiness, the role of food in spiritual growth, and the movement from a life of seeking towards deeper fulfilment.
Held from 2–4 October 2026, the retreat offered participants an opportunity to step away from the pace of everyday life and engage with Vedantic wisdom in a contemplative setting, combining study, reflection and sādhana.
The retreat concluded with an invitation to carry the insights of Sādhanā-Pañcakam beyond the retreat space—as a practical guide to examining how we live, what we value and what truly makes life meaningful.
Bhagavadgita - Bitesize Learning is an effort to package the essence of Gita into multiple micro learning modules as it gives an opportunity to delve deep into Bhagavad Gita and enjoy its actuality in life.
Every time someone reads Gita, there is something new and something more to learn from the reading. The knowledge of Bhagavad Gita was imparted by the world’s greatest counsellor to the world’s most depressed Counselee, so it has the power to motivate anyone on any given day.

Why do we give ourselves to another? For example, why does a wife love her husband? Is it truly for the sake of the husband himself? The Bṛhadāraṇyaka #Upaniṣad offers a startlingly intimate answer: “Not for the sake of the husband is the husband dear, but for the sake of the Self.”
Beginning with this profound insight into the nature of love, this essay journeys into the many shades of #samarpana in #SanātanaDharma. From offering what we possess to surrendering the fruits of action, the self, and finally our ahaṃtā and mamatā, samarpana takes different forms across different sampradāyas.
The essay explores these paths and culminates in the #Vallabha understanding of surrender, where individuality finds its fullest fulfilment in loving sevā of #ŚrīKṛṣṇa. A piece by Rushik Borad ( @Rushik_ptel)

At the heart of NICE’s work is a larger civilisational possibility.
India’s culture is not merely something to be preserved or celebrated. It can also generate enterprise, livelihoods, innovation and value.
Cultural entrepreneurship creates a bridge between the richness of India’s traditions and the opportunities of the contemporary world—enabling founders to build businesses that are both economically sustainable and culturally rooted.
This is also an important dimension of building Brand India: enabling the world to encounter India not only through its heritage, but through the enterprises, products, ideas and people carrying that heritage forward.
As NICE enters its seventh year, INDICA celebrates the founders, entrepreneurs, mentors, investors, advisors, partners, board members and the entire NICE community who have contributed to this journey.
