Today is the start of a new adventure. Officially going out on my own to write the content and plan the comms things. My guiding business principle: Ice cream meetings > Coffee meetings. Let’s chat!
It feels like yesterday when 5-month-old Henry and I made the drive from NWI to Indy so I could cover the legislative session for the Post-Tribune. Today, he’s officially starting his high school career (!!) to free up elective space, so he can be on newspaper staff this fall ❤️
The BIC team is in full force on Capitol Hill today for @TheTCC Fly-In. Excellent meetings with the entire Indiana delegation to discuss long term funding needs for the Crossroads of America.
Indiana has certainly felt this. BIC made several advances during the legislative session to help offset the impact but we still have a ways to go for long term, stable, adequate funding.
I’ll never forget the time I shared with a male reporter/boss that I was thinking of taking a break from reporting to stay home with my kids (partially due to low pay & child care costs).
His response: “Don’t you want your kids to be proud of you?”
Thank you Secretary @PeteButtigieg for joining us during the @IndianaChamber Fly-in. Great conversation on the discretionary funds in IIJA and how Indiana can be more competitive in applying for road projects.
Teddy got sick in the car during our drive to school. Gets home for his sick day and tells me he is hungry...and then says, "Mommy, these are NOT the right pretzels." I swear they make the first boy super sweet...and then comes the wrecking ball little brother.
