It is important that research such as ours is not neglected by policymakers. If anything #DublinRiots last night proved that policymaking around immigration needs serious attention of Irish govt. @SorchaPollak @ShamimMalekmian
Researchers have been giving warning about growing anti-immigrant sentiment in Ireland; we saw signs of it back in 2020 when this particular project received @IrishResearch funding.
Our findings from focus groups with various cohorts of immigrants revealed the same & additional survey analysis showed that migrants from non-EU countries are scared to express this discomfort of meaningful friendships. Stay tuned as our report to be released this month.
Great @NewToTheParish w. Cristina Stamatescu and nice to read her honesty about her difficulties making friends in Ireland. I've interviewed countless people who struggle to build meaningful relationships with Irish people - our warm welcome can be quite surface level!
ADAPT Academic Dr. M. Atif Qureshi @matifq@WeAreTUDublin recently published a research article on inclusive policy making concerning migrants in Ireland via @IEEEAccess.
