@DFisman You most certainly do not want #LongCovid no matter how low the (perceived) risk. The patients I see are a varied spectrum of age, gender, baseline health. At least 30% have profoundly debilitating symptoms that have impacted their lives immensely.
More good news on sars-2 vaccines: they appear to prevent long covid (we've been waiting for answers to this question). A propensity matched cohort from the UK found that 2+ doses of vaccine decreased adjusted long covid risk by 41% (95% CI 31%-50%).
Last week, the BC CDC posted a pre-print estimating past COVID infections in Vancouver & southern BC.
This study is a testament to the successful pre-omicron prevention efforts of the BC covid team and a damning indictment of the failed response to omicron & sub-variants.

Targeted booster vaccine outreach to lower income & racialized neighbourhoods would help.
Get shots in community centres, temples, 24/7 clinics, at-home programs, etc.
This is effective, will save lives & alleviate pressure on healthcare system.

There is a humanitarian crisis in Pakistan. 33 million people have been impacted by the catastrophic flooding. Each number is a person. Someone’s mother, father, or child. The Red Cross is standing with those who need it most, but we can’t do it alone.
Today we are celebrating the amazing work field epidemiologists do, and their contributions towards advancing domestic and global health security. #WFED2022
Curious how we get the latest information on emerging diseases? #FieldEpidemiologists are dispatched when outbreaks occur and do some pretty cool work to help protect our health. Check out this video ↓
