In 2019 @BTWsanctuary saved a huge herd of pigs from hell. Most of them live on their main site but the adult boars are in a nearby rented barn.
That barn is now being sold โ putting the boars at risk yet again.
Please help the sanctuary buy the barn!โฌ๏ธ

This great big pig (the one on the right! ๐) is Gandalf ๐
He is huge! A few metres long and over a metre in height.
He's one of the #53pigs entire boars.
He was rescued from an illegal slaughterhouse in Wales.
Where he was starved and treated brutally.
To survive.....๐
Anti-vegans sometimes claim that vegans harm our fellow animals more than nonvegans, especially โcarnivoreโ dieters, do, often under the slogan โcarnivore is vegan.โ
In this article, I explain why that claim is as absurd as it sounds.
A 56-year-old New York City activist saw a photograph in 1930 and bought a mountain to stop a slaughter.
Her name was Rosalie Edge. She was a suffragist with no scientific training. The photograph she saw showed hundreds of dead hawks lined up on the forest floor in eastern Pennsylvania.
Pennsylvania's 1929 bounty on goshawks had turned a ridge of the Kittatinny Mountains into a recreational shooting site where men gathered every autumn to kill migrating raptors by the thousand.
In 1934, Edge borrowed $500 from a friend and leased 1,400 acres of Hawk Mountain. She hired two wardens, Maurice and Irma Broun, who lived on the property and kept the hunters off. Within a single migration season, observers recorded dramatic increases in the numbers of raptors passing the ridge as the shooting ended.
In 1938 she bought the land outright and deeded it to a new nonprofit. Hawk Mountain Sanctuary is now the world's first refuge for birds of prey. It still runs raptor migration counts that began in 1934, the longest-running such record on Earth.
Incredible, yet also heartbreaking: This crayfish cuts off his own claw (which will grow back) to escape boiling to death. ๐จ
His will to live is STRONG. Never underestimate that โ *especially* in animals who some people consider to be โfood.โ ๐งก
Update: just smashed ยฃ10k!!

Hungry tummies wait for no one โ come rain or shine, the routine is the same at our Nairobi Nursery.
Mzinga, Taroha, Arthi, Nyambeni and Pardamat are sure-footed today despite the mud, eyes firmly on the prize: two bottles of milk, fresh greens, and a warm stable to sleep in.
New to our feed? Meet the rest of the herd who will be joining them for bed: https://t.co/CooVpdJj7e
it still strikes me as so horrible and upsetting that we live in a world where billions of adorable baby chicks are constantly being fed into machines that grind and shred them to pieces because they are not useful to us

The fishing industry is deeply corrupted, rotten to the core. ๐บThey lie through their teeth, spreading false propaganda to hide the truth. That moonfish they casually tossed back? It wasnโt even the same as the bycatch shown in the video. Most bycatch never survives, they die trapped in nets or shortly after being thrown back. This isnโt sustainability. Itโs mass destruction. Stop destroying life. Choose compassion. Choose truth. #StopFishing #LiveVegan if you truly love life. โ๏ธ๐
Evening in The Boar Barn with these very precious boys ๐ค
We were advised not to take these huge boys because they would be uncontrollable & dangerous.
They proved the opposite, they are big gentle boys. Please help us buy their barn to keep them safe ๐

For every ex-vegan announcement, I'm going to share a post by a cool vegan, so that ex-vegans aren't making the difference they think they're making...
All power to you, Gabrielle ๐๐ฑ
@KarenMessier Absolutely this. And because most people wilfully ignore factory farms and the plight of the animals confined within them, it's no wonder they're clueless about the local human impact too.
This is a county fair in Lancaster County, PA. Open to the public.
She's on the floor of a cage. Panting. Eyes closed. Other hens stepping on her.
Every week hens arrive alive and die before they're sold.
You're looking at her right now. That's more than anyone there did.
Well Indonesia ๐ฎ๐ฉ.
Indonesia has banned cruel Elephant rides - protecting Elephants from violence and abuse.

Across Britain, neighbors are cutting small holes in the bottoms of their fences on purpose, and you should too.
The holes are for hedgehogs. A hedgehog can cover a mile or more in a single night hunting for food and mates, and a solid fence turns every backyard into a dead end. So conservation groups made it a movement: a gap about five inches square, cut at ground level, linking yard to yard into what they call a hedgehog highway.
The US doesn't have wild hedgehogs, but we have all the animals that hit the same wall. Toads, salamanders, box turtles, chipmunks, young rabbits: each one small enough to be stopped cold by a privacy fence, and each one needing more ground than a single lot to live a normal life. To a box turtle, a solid fence can be the edge of the reachable world.
The fix is the one the Brits landed on. A palm-sized gap at the bottom, down where the small things travel. Your fence still does its job, the neighborhood stops being a series of wildlife prisons, and your yard stitches itself back into the larger map.
Nelson's beautiful face ๐ค
He's one of the big boars at The Boar Barn. He's a survivor from the illegal slaughterhouse. His Barn has kept him safe for the last 6 years but now it's being sold. We must raise the funds to buy it. Please help if you can ๐
