1. The manga never had a proper adaptation. Most people are unaware that there was an entire series before Duelist Kingdom.
2. The anime adapting said series was never localized in America. So what everyone got was the trading card portion so that is what is most associated with the brand.
3. The anime everyone got was an already heavily altered version of the source material made worse through 4kids censorship. The uncut dub never got off the ground either.
Fialkov was treated like crap at Marvel too. When he was working on Ultimate FF he was writing a story about the multiverse collapsing, causing incursions that the FF had to fix only for the line to be canceled seemingly out of nowhere.
Only it wasn't out nowhere because over in 616 Jonathan Hickman was writing the Avengers where the multiverse was collapsing, causing incursions that the Avengers had to fix. This was leading right into Secret Wars where the Ultimate Universe crossed over with 616.
Neither writer was told about the other person's story. Fialkov left his notes and the book, leaving someone else to write the final issue of Ultimate FF for him. It's a shame too because he clearly had a genuine passion for 1610 and, I think, could have singlehandedly saved the universe given how good his work was.
@JameSmithorienn@HollywoodHandle You literally just repeated what I said about $175 being the film's budget before marketing, said I was wrong despite repeating what I said, and then pulled out the larger number from nowhere again. Actually read what I post.
@JameSmithorienn@HollywoodHandle $175 is the film's budget. Where do you think the extra $140 million came from? It even says that it is BEFORE marketing. It is $315 to cover the budget + marketing. This film looks terrible, you don't need to lie about it to make it look bad. It is doing well enough on its own.
