2026FOCUS: President @KagutaMuseveni will officially launch his 2026 re-election campaign in Luweero district before proceeding to the Lango sub-region.

@HamsonObua, Government Chief Whip and NRM Vice Chairperson for Northern Uganda, announced that the campaigns in Lango sub region kicks off Wednesday, Oct 1, 2025, with the first rally in Amolatar, followed by Dokolo the same day. On Oct 2, Museveni will head to Alebtong and Otuke before covering the rest of Lango through Oct 7.

The @NRMOnline calls on all supporters to turn out in big numbers as @KagutaMuseveni seeks another term to lead Uganda (2026–2031).

Empowering Communities through Sports: Lira City Council Launches Ball Distribution

On the auspicious day of Saturday, 17th August 2024, the @CouncilLira initiated a remarkable initiative by launching a ball distribution program encompassing all 240 villages within Lira City. The event unfolded at Burlobo Primary School, where Hon. Charles Opio Olol, the Secretary for Finance, Planning, and Administration, oversaw the distribution of footballs to various communities.

In a poignant gesture of gratitude, Hon. Charles Opio Olol acknowledged the support of Hon. @atulsamon , the esteemed Mayor of Lira City Council, for championing the inclusion of ball procurement in the city's budget. The distribution of these balls aligns with the vision of the @OfficialFUFA President (Hon. Eng. @MosesMagogo ) to establish and nurture community clubs nationwide. Moreover, this initiative holds the promise of engaging the youth constructively, thereby mitigating idleness and curbing delinquency by providing them with a platform for healthy recreation and camaraderie through sports activities.

Highlighting the significance of community engagement, Opio urged local clubs and residents to espouse the use of Zakayo footballs and jerseys crafted by Janzi, an endorsed manufacturer. This move not only supports local enterprises but also fosters a sense of pride and unity within the community.

Hon. Sam Atul, the Mayor of Lira City, expressed his profound appreciation to the City Council for endorsing his proposal to allocate resources for the purchase of footballs. Vowing his commitment to the advancement of sports in Lira City, Mayor Atul underscored the transformative potential of sports as an instrument for economic growth and social cohesion.

Atul further pledged to harness local revenues to procure a grader for the City's Department of Works and Technical Services, thereby enhancing the infrastructure and connectivity of roads within the city limits. Additionally, in a testament to his dedication towards education, Mayor Atul announced a generous allocation of Ugx 20 million for each government-aided primary school to facilitate infrastructural upgrades and improvements.

The collaborative efforts of the Lira City Council underscore a commitment to community empowerment through sports and infrastructure development. By fostering a culture of active engagement and investment in both sports and education, Lira City sets a commendable example for proactive governance and holistic community enrichment.

Update 🚨: The Agricultural Extension Officer for Okwang sub county under the production department of Otuke district Local Government has suddenly died in a nasty motorcycle crash along Dokolo-Lira highway.

Otuke district boss, Francis Abola confirmed to Qfm news desk, the unfortunate death of Geoffrey Bua who this evening rammed into a stationary trailer at Agwata.

His body is currently conveyed at Dokolo HC IV pending postmortem.

This is a developing story.
