The extreme left ideology presents as a clear and present danger to Western society. They believe themselves to be benignly self righteous and as a result any action that they take against perceived ‘enemies’ is considered an act of supreme goodness.

Take for example this morning. A young woman named Daze Aghaji who describes herself as a ‘climate change’ campaigner appeared on BBC and was disrespectful when she spoke of the horrific murder of Ann Widdecombe.

She basked in that cringing self righteous tone that many on the left adopt when she stated that ‘It would go amiss to not mention that she (Ann Widdecombe) pushed against LGBTQ+ rights throughout all of her career.  And she was vehemently anti-abortion’.

What she failed to mention was that Ms. Widdecombe was a Christian and her beliefs were guided by the faith she held on to and believed intently.

As if to push her credentials even more Ms Aghaji then confirmed that she herself was ‘queer’. And there you have it. Her badge of pretentious superiority protects her from any opprobrium. Her rudeness can never be seriously challenged.

Notice, at no time did she describe herself as ‘black’ because it is not her colour that defines her. It is her politics, her sexuality, her snobby self righteousness.

I have little to no time for ill mannered leftist hypocrites like her.

Okay, this might stir up a hornet’s nest…

At first, I thought Scotland’s 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 habit of cheering for whoever England plays - even Argentina - was just banter. But now I’m not so sure. It feels like it runs much deeper.

What I find truly intriguing is how some Scottish nationalists blame English identity (and often the English people collectively) for British colonialism, while painting Scotland as its very first victim. Yet many Scots were enthusiastic participants in the empire, often serving as key figures in its ruling elite.

After the 1707 Union, Scotland’s educated middle class, military tradition, and economic pressures pushed many talented Scots into imperial service. They excelled in law, engineering, medicine, and administration. Scots comprised roughly one-third of colonial governors-general in the later Victorian/Edwardian era. They were disproportionately represented in colonial governance, the military, and civil service, making up a significant portion of governors, administrators, and officials relative to Scotland’s population.

Scots were prominent as governors in the Carribean, India, Canada, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaya, and African colonies. They also dominated roles in the East India Company and later imperial services.

Rather than acknowledging Scotland’s active role, the narrative often shifts to claims of “internalised Anglo-phobia” or some sort of Stockholm syndrome. It’s as if Scotland was forced into complicity like Django Unchained’s ‘Stephen,’ the loyal house slave who sides with the master.

The reality seems simpler. Scotland fought bravely, eventually lost, joined the winning side, and then did rather well out of the arrangement - certainly better than most of the world’s colonized peoples.

At last night's sold-out Stand Up For Jews comedy benefit at Leicester Square Theatre, we kept hearing the same thing: despite the accelerating rise in anti-Semitism and the isolation many in the Jewish community feel, it's heartening to know that Jews have allies.

Thanks to Al Murray for headlining and to the The Pub Landlord, for sparing no-one. To Josh Howie for compering. To the line-up of Simon Evans, Lee Hurst, Mark Maier, Adam Bloom and Jonathan Kogan for top performances. But most of all to Andy Shaw—a #mensch amongst mensches—who conceived it all and made it happen.

Mensch is a Yiddish word, meaning a person of genuine decency and moral backbone. Today, in 2026, having 'moral backbone' means to stand publicly with the Jewish community at a time when visible solidarity is most in need.

I've never see Jews stringing up little girls because they wore lip gloss or jeans. I've never heard of Jewish rape gangs. I've never heard of Jews forcing their women to live every moment of their public life peering through a slit in a black sheet. Jews never blew up our buildings or beheaded Christians.
