Our newest episode has dropped! In this episode our host Zach discusses several misconceptions that he's encountered as a paleontologist. Give us a watch and tell of misconceptions you've heard of! The Saurus Thesaurus - Misconceptions https://t.co/OBsH0u2FQv via @YouTube O
Tomorrow for #FossilFriday we will be releasing our next episode of #TheSaurusThesaurus. Do you think you can guess our next topic? Here's a hint, don't misconstrue what I am doing.
If you are a fan of paleontology, please check out a paper written by friend of the show (and our cheif in trilobite information) PhD. student Kat Jordan. It's definitely worth a read!
@BNBuzz you had one job haha but I guess the #JurassicPark#dilophosaurus is as close to a velociraptor as it was to the actual namesake. I can't seem to escape my mortal enemy
Love snapping turtles, rescued a hatchling years ago (almost 20 at this point) took care of her for a month or two before bringing her to the Sand Ridge Nature Center w/ @FPDCC which I still think they are there to this day. Fun fact I named them Squirtle!
@GoodpodsHQ We have #theSauraPODcast, we discuss paleontology, earth sciences, and science communication while also riffing on B-movies that don't quite nail dinosaurs, earth science, etc. We are newish and are just getting off the ground.
Our next field correspondent #mechagodzilla comes to us from the @exploratorium for their #afterdark which was amazing. He even helped demonstrate a rube Goldberg machine. An amazing time & place for #STEAM and #sciencecommunication definitely check it out! Also you can airbend!
For today’s fossil(s) Friday I thought I would cover an animal that is the state fossil of Nebraska but also once again has a history with both hosts Zach and Devra, the Mammoth.
Now while it is only stated as a mammoth the mascot of Nebraska is Archie who is a Columbian Mammoths
Here we have photos of Archie in Nebraska’s Morrill Hall as well as Zach digging up a fossil in Disney’s Animal Kingdom in 2001 and his work with the animal in 2018 at the Mammoth site.
What is your favorite paleo mammal and why? Let us know in the comments down below.
