After a tumultuous year, it's important to take stock of the written #curriculum, the enacted curriculum, and possible gaps between them.
Our evidence-based process supports #teachers and #edleaders in making the revisions that matter for student success.

As our team busily prepares for a host of #professionallearning this month, we took time to read, discuss, and put in action some key messages from this article. Whether local #edleaders or outside partners, adult SEL must be part of the #PD plan.
Asking teachers what conditions they need to do their best learning can help professional learning get off to a much better start.

We bring our July #irrechat to a close, but it is never the end of the conversation! Please feel free to share thoughts from the week.
Q5: Where have you turned to find resources that support student #SEL, school spirit, and school culture?
#edchat#teachers#edleaders
We continue our #irrechat this week concerning #SEL needs and encouraging student ownership of the school community.
Q4: What are ways your school has encouraged school spirit as a way to support the overall culture?

Q3: What do you see as the connection between school spirit and school culture?
#SEL#edchat#teachers#edleaders#engagement
We agree-learning can look so many different ways. The key is how we engage students with the content and ask them to process, no matter how input occurs. Brains thrive on variety and novelty-a good mix in our classroom sets us (and #students!) up for success. #edchat#engagement
Some words that stick out in this article- community, collaboration, and inquiry. We are all working to plan a strong opening for Ss and #Teachers; no matter the activities, keep these words in mind to rekindle and spark a stronger school culture. #edleaders#irrechat#SEL
First-day and first-week activities that focus on collaboration and inquiry promote community and set the tone for the school year.

Many high schools have some type of early college program, but that's just the first step in the planning. How do we support Ss so they are successful with their college courses? What ways are we structuring gradual release supports that closely connect HS to college? #edchat
This dual enrollment program builds in the kind of support that could help a lot of students: “The teachers sit in on the classes with their students … then have support classes at the high school the next day to reinforce the concepts.” https://t.co/i6rKrRcxxG
As adults, we can do much to support S ownership and #engagement in learning that don't take a lot of energy or time. This chart highlights some of those small moves we can make on a daily basis that make a big impact. #edchat#edleaders#professionallearning
Great list of attributes for any #educoach and #edleaders alike. Our team really appreciated the idea of always coming from a position of solution rather than problem. What traits do others find most compelling or critical for a coach? #edchat
Reading strategies Ss can clearly use on their own is our goal. Because #students often struggle with accessing text, pre-reading strategies, like Skim and Scan, can help. No matter the strategy- explicitly teach, model, practice, and communicate the use.
"Multiple opportunities to explore concepts and make connections"- effective classrooms have this, no matter the specific strategy. While there is no one-size-fits-all approach, the basic tenets are the same. How do we get Ss to experience content in meaningful ways? #educoach
Reflecting on what we learned and what worked helps us make informed decisions for the fall. As #students transition back into the physical classroom, keep engaging tech to build the bridge back in order to move forward. Thanks for sharing the insight! #edchat#PD#educoach

Our team is busy prepping for August PL, working with #teachers & #edleaders on curriculum and instructional refinement. Together with T teams, we delve into what is essential for student success, embed accelerated learning, and keep the focus on active S #engagement.
