Sanjay Murthy and Padma Shri Dr. @svembu, CEO of Zoho Corporation, co-chaired the First meeting of the Apex Committee to select and support 3 Centres of Excellence (CoEs) in Artificial Intelligence (AI), in Agriculture, Health, and Sustainable Cities at a cost of Rs. 990 crore strengthens the vision of “Make Artificial Intelligence (AI) in India and Make AI work for India”.

The Apex Committee consisting of industry experts such as Shri @abhinavshashank, Founder and CEO, Innovaccer; Shri @srikanth_nadha, CEO, Khosla Labs; Dr. Praveen Pankajakshan, Head, Cropin AI Labs; Dr. Shankar Venugopal, Vice President, Mahindra & Mahindra; Dr. Lalitesh Katragadda, Founder, Indihood; Dr. @SriramRajamani, MD, Microsoft Research India; and Dr. @ManishGuptaMG1, Director, Google Research Institute, gave key inputs on the proposed design and structure of the CoEs.

The committee decided to set up the secretariat under the Director of @IITJammu, Prof. Manoj S. Gaur.

Senior Government functionaries including Ms. D Thara, Additional Secretary, @MoHUA_India; Shri P.K. Meherda, Additional Secretary, @AgriGoI; Shri Akash Tripathi, CEO, MyGov, @GoI_MeitY; and Ms. Indrani Kaushal, Economic Advisor, @MoHFW_INDIA, also attended the meeting.

Begusarai, Bihar: A minor Hindu girl was abducted by Islamists in the Hussainabad area. The incident occurred on the 16th of October, and the police didn't register any case until the 18th of October.
