@P_AllensProfile “Why complain about pressing square to guard break the enemy, when you can press X instead and insta-kill them” lol amazing. The issue with this game is that the enemies are braindead and even if they do something its slow and punishable with both dodging and parrying
@HelmBreaker21@theonlycures@wondermagenta It only has 2 difficulties, story and action. Action is actually this braindead. Itsuno leaving this company is the final nail in the coffin for meaningful melee combat design because this is just lite-Sekiro with gravitized Arkham combat
@DumbSMTFan I’m fully convinced that weebs would fall head over heels for Ubisoft games if they would actually play them instead of judging them from a distance. The moment a Japanese game (Rise of Ronin) copies their design it gets ate up to no end
@fortmadeofbrass@dont_switch_up_@megalarper Square Enix fanboy mocking sales. Wake up buddy. Barely any of your company’s games have exceeded sales expectations and their IP’s are slowly phasing out of the public’s consciousness because they take 7 years to drop one mediocre, iterative sequel that has no cultural impact.
@Invinium The reason for that is DMC4 did not stick to its concept of a fresh new face for the series and had to shove in Dante, which would have been palatable if his section wasn’t a retread. And older fans wanted Dante and his moveset back. The game was also pretty rushed.
@Invinium Listen I’m not saying you’re wrong about the rest but using Capcom as your example here is just ignorant on many levels. DMC4 was a controversial game to say the least, it failed to satisfy newcomers and old fans, and Capcom generally was pretty hated during that era.
@PandaKingEX@SneedChuck01 I’m shocked at how depressing the presentation of this game is. I’m usually a sucker for atmospheric direction but this game comes across as completely lifeless and just flat out lame. Just not something I want to return to at all, let alone shill out 70$ for.
@StunProdStud same treatment. People are quick to point out what CE changed due to being a console shooter, but they never take into consideration that it also compensated for it. None of those changes were taken lightly.
It’s only a problem when other shooters copy it without that mindset.
@StunProdStud@CactusFuturist Nah I’m trying to be concise with this dogshit word limit. DE still functions much more as an action game and the RPG bits serve to limit which path you take.
If you can enjoy DE with all of the concessions it takes due to being an imsim, I fail to see why CE doesn’t get the
@StunProdStud@CactusFuturist And yet it remains much more advanced and complex than DE. Incredibly varied and competent enemy AI, a vast load-out of weapons with their own flair, all tied with good encounter design.
But hey, at least you can scan a level for 30 seconds to identify a vent to crawl in, right?
@psycogenicFugue It's a feeling of superiority from "getting" it and understanding the genius behind the work. They project their opinions and interpretations directly onto Fujimoto, believing they understand his mindset entirely. To them, he is infallible and because they get him, so are they.
