🌎 .@MarylandDNR's Fort Fredrick State Park in Big Pool, Maryland, was Yonder's #WITWW destination. The stone fort-- used in the French & Indian War, the American Revolutionary War, and the Civil War--was restored in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps.

🎨🐕This week's #ArtfulPup is the dog in the road welcoming passersby to "A Cottage in the Woods." This c 1662 painting is by Dutch artist Meindert Hobbema, known for his woodland scenes at a time when the Netherlands had newly gained independence from Spain. See it @clevelandart

🌎 Yonder was at Piscataway Crossing Regional Park in Leesburg, VA, this #WITWW. The area has long ties to the Monacan, Algonquian, & Piscataway peoples. The site also contains White's Ford where, in Sept 1862, Confederate forces crossed the river to launch the Maryland Campaign.

🌎 Today's #WITWW location--now a regional park & boat launch--has been part of changing ancestral homelands for >8,500 yrs. More recently, in 1862, the site's shallow river crossing played a key role in the American Civil War. Where was Yonder? Check back at 5pm for the reveal!

🌎 #WITWW = a historical plaque in Lucketts, VA, for the Old Carolina Road. Once a Native American trade route, it became a colonial America thoroughfare from NC to PA. In May 1776, Thomas Jefferson traveled it to Philadelphia where he wrote the Declaration of Independence.

🌎 For this #WITWW photo, Yonder visited the site where a new Virginia historical marker relating to transportation history was installed on Sunday as part of America 250th celebrations. Any guess as to where Yonder was? We'll be back at 5pm with the answer.

🌎 Beaverdam Reservoir Park in Loudoun Co., VA, is 1 of 37 @NOVA_Parks and is this week's dog-friendly #WITWW destination! This area water supply provides bountiful 🎣 and 🛶 opportunities, and Yonder gave two paws up for the 8-mile pedestrian trail encircling the reservoir.

🌎 Opened in October 2024, this award-winning recreational greenspace in the heart of "Data Center Alley" is the result of a partnership b/t a water company & a regional parks authority. Where was Yonder hiking in this #WITWW pic? Drop a guess and return at 5pm for the reveal.

🎨🐕 Check out the #ArtfulPup in this 45' mural by Jack Pabis & Anthony Owens! The 2015 installation was done for Brunswick, MD's 125th anniversary. The ceramic tiles represent the nearby Potomac River. Included is Dr. Horine, original owner of this building: Horine's Drug Store.

🌎 Today's #WITWW = War Correspondents Memorial in MD's Gathland State Park. It was built by 19th-century journalist George Alfred Townsend to honor reporters who died while covering the Civil War. A newer marker there is for journalists who died as part of the War on Terrorism.

🌎 Always on the lookout for new #WITWW locations, Yonder found himself at this rural memorial arch, now on the grounds of a state park. Built in 1896, it had a companion plaque added to honor individuals who died in 2002 and 2003. Where was Yonder? Answer revealed at 5pm.
