π Yonder was at Piscataway Crossing Regional Park in Leesburg, VA, this #WITWW. The area has long ties to the Monacan, Algonquian, & Piscataway peoples. The site also contains White's Ford where, in Sept 1862, Confederate forces crossed the river to launch the Maryland Campaign.

π #WITWW = a historical plaque in Lucketts, VA, for the Old Carolina Road. Once a Native American trade route, it became a colonial America thoroughfare from NC to PA. In May 1776, Thomas Jefferson traveled it to Philadelphia where he wrote the Declaration of Independence.

π¨π Check out the #ArtfulPup in this 45' mural by Jack Pabis & Anthony Owens! The 2015 installation was done for Brunswick, MD's 125th anniversary. The ceramic tiles represent the nearby Potomac River. Included is Dr. Horine, original owner of this building: Horine's Drug Store.
π Today's #WITWW = War Correspondents Memorial in MD's Gathland State Park. It was built by 19th-century journalist George Alfred Townsend to honor reporters who died while covering the Civil War. A newer marker there is for journalists who died as part of the War on Terrorism.
π Always on the lookout for new #WITWW locations, Yonder found himself at this rural memorial arch, now on the grounds of a state park. Built in 1896, it had a companion plaque added to honor individuals who died in 2002 and 2003. Where was Yonder? Answer revealed at 5pm.
