Today's rally at The Post building was a powerful show of solidarity from fellow union workers, community members, longtime Post readers, past and current Post journalists, international press, city council members, and everyone else who knows that we must #SaveThePost ✊
In 2000, I transferred to the Naperville Sun, a 3-times weekly paper with a handful of suburban weeklies. The newsroom staff was 100 people. The profitable weeklies were closed by moron bosses. The Naperville Sun has one editor and one reporter now.
@gaufre@NABJ I really wish the media organization I work for will tell us what we can do WHEN this happens to one of our own. Because now, they run the risk of being taken to an ICE detention center especially if they’re black, brown or here on a visa.
ATTN: Today's arrests of Georgia Fort and Don Lemon are an escalation to criminalize press freedom under the guise of law enforcement.
The First Amendment is not optional, and journalism is NOT a crime. We demand their immediate release!

NEW: Media News Group announced on Monday that it is selling The Detroit News to USA Today Co., the largest newspaper owner in the U.S. and owner of the Detroit Free Press.
The company has said it will not honor Guild members’ current contract.

@mattnightingale I “worshipped where I wasn’t wanted” specifically to reconnect with old friends who (I’ll just say it) I’ve blown off while I was consumed with this other friendship. It only underscored my decision to join an affirming church.
Navigating a friend breakup by the social platforms:
The Book of Faces: You have mutuals there, so you don’t say a word. But they take something personally that had nothing to do with them so you’re unfriended snd blocked. Meanwhile a mutual posts photos of them that hurt to see.
TikTok: You’re “working on yourself” and a content creator or 5 are talking about childhood trauma that’s being stirred up. Bonus: You’re not blocked there so there’s more proof of life.
TODAY: The @PittsburghPG lost again. This time as the U.S. 3rd Circuit Court rejected a request to rehear the case in which it ordered the PG to pay workers back for the costs it illegally passed onto us, & restore the contract.
Even w/ the closure, the owners are on the hook.
I went to talk to a small business owner and thought of him. I said something about intergenerational differences…and thought of him. It’s hard to find a light explanation for tearing up in public.
How am I doing on my break with my bestie that’s hopefully not a breakup?
Mostly OK and I woke up Monday with more hope than I’ve had in weeks. But mostly more up and down than the weather in my state!
I finally got an explanation for his radio silence. All workable stuff, eventually.
But then it became clear that today is not that day when he unfriended me on the book of faces after taking something I’ve said a million times as a direct attack. My real friend knows better.
