Nanhai One, a Chinese merchant ship with over 60,000 items on board, which sank into South China Sea in 12th Century CE. Discovered in 1987, ship was raised in 2007 and placed in a custom-made saltwater tank where archaeologists continue to study and excavate the wreck.

Archaeologists guess the Pyramids of Giza to be about ~4,600 years old as Carbon-14 canโt be used to estimate their age. An ostrich egg found in a tomb near Aswan shows the 3 Pyramid structures side by side. Carbon dating show it is ~7,000 years old.

May 21, 1917 - The Great Fire of Atlanta engulfs the heart of the city. 1,938 homes were destroyed, 300 acres of real estate were wiped out, and more than 10,000 people became homeless.
It began as three small fires and quickly spread across the city.

Mayor Asa Candler ordered them to fetch crates of dynamite in order to create a barrier the flames could not cross. This plan worked and the flame was contained.
For weeks the city was shrouded in smoke and ash. Thousands camped in Piedmont Park or vacant lots.

May 6th, 1937 - the German airship Hindenburg erupts into flames while landing at Lakehurst, New Jersey - killing 36 of the 97 people aboard ending the Zepplin air transportation era.
This was the largest airship ever constructed at 804 feet long.

Both bodies were hastily burned outside the bunker. Soviet forces discovered the ashes and also some of his teeth, which they sent back to Moscow.
In 2018, researchers were allowed to examine the teeth and confirmed the match - dispelling any notion that Hitler escaped Germany

The surrounding town of Pripyat was evacuated, with a "zone of exclusion" set up around the explosion. The area will not be safe for at least another 20,000 years.
