@TheELongWave Bollocks, Alberta collects huge resource royalties and provincial income tax on resource companies. The federal government collects huge corporate taxes on resource companies. If you personally over-borrowed, that's on you.
@Handre I don't think there were any such "strict geographical" limits on Canadian banks in 1980. We've had nation-wide banks from the start as they were strictly federally regulated I do believe.
@politicalham The wholesale price of electricity in Alberta at 3 pm Sunday is XERO! Will Danielle Smith be shown any love for that?

@LiveLife8898@KirkLubimov I'll call you uninformed. You SHOULD be skeptical of the 88,000 figure, not becasue it is manipulated for political reasons but but because it is only a statistical ESTIMATE.
@2manybikes2ride@politicalham@ember_energy His web site is his own it appears and shows no sponsors. He does take donations (I suspect that is a tough way to raise revenue). Everything I see looks independent. But then I tend to assume the best about people until I see evidence to the contrary. https://t.co/VHyTUpMHKE
@dividendology Many years ago, possibly in an annual letter or at an annaul meeting, Buffett explained that when he bought an insurance compoany in those days and it came with investments he would just sell them all. Said he did not want to be "backed into positions". Greg may feel the same.
@politicalham@maxfawcett Still angry on a day when the PM endorsed electrification big time? I thought I saw where some big players are still endorsing carbon price and carbon capture. Take the win and enjoy this week. Even separation got nailed this week. Smile!!
@2manybikes2ride@politicalham@maxfawcett The 250mW Oneida battery storage generation, newly operational in Oneida Ontario has a long-term contract with the Ontario Grid operator as I understand it. So, yes, its owners will more than break even. Owners are Northland Power (majority), Aecon Group and NRstor.
@politicalham Sounds like a good initiative. Maybe he listened to Markham at last. Now, to the important question; which companies to invest in to benefit from this as an investor? TransAlta, Capital Power and some others jump to mind. Many will benefit.
@2manybikes2ride@politicalham@maxfawcett Apparently California has massive battery storage. Probably heavily subsidised. Canada has I think one and only grid-scale battery generation facility and that is at Oneida Ontario and recently became operational.

@ericnuttall The oil sands are in Canada and can't be relocated. The carbon tax WILL make oil sands expansion LESS profitable. But if it's still sufficiently profitable it will still happen in Canada. If there were oil sands in the U.S. it would be a different story.
