It is with deep sadness that the Broomfield Police Department shares the news of the passing of retired BPD Commander Tom Hartman, who served the City and County of Broomfield from 1986 to 2021. He passed away in his sleep this morning after a long battle with cancer. Commander Hartman dedicated his career to serving and protecting the community in a variety of assignments including Patrol, Investigations, Detention and more. Commander Hartman had an extensive list of commendations and awards that spanned his 35 years. Our thoughts are with his family, friends and former colleagues during this difficult time. Funeral and memorial service arrangements will be shared when they are available. 💙

Today, at the direction of President Trump, the Department of War carried out a lethal kinetic strike on a vessel operated by a Designated Terrorist Organization (DTO).

Intelligence confirmed that the vessel was involved in illicit narcotics smuggling, transiting along a known narco-trafficking route, and carrying narcotics. The strike was conducted in international waters in the Eastern Pacific.

No U.S. forces were harmed in the strike, and two male narco-terrorists — who were aboard the vessel — were killed.
