I’m at the bottom of a multi-layer SPV and am looking forward to the SpaceX IPO in much the same way a golden retriever looks forward to a car ride:
- thrilled to be involved
- no clue how cars work
- unsure if going to the park or getting neutered
@sgodofsk Never been to a German supermarket. My sister said the same thing about English ones. She was like "I had a reverse Yeltsin moment."
OTOH Globus in Switzerland SLAPS.
@CharlesinRome The new version of this is first communion classes.
PARENTS have to attend classes that are at like 5:30 PM on a Wednesday while their kid attends a DIFFERENT class in an adjacent room.
Like, do you not realize that the parent has OTHER KIDS who need parenting at this time?
@hecubian_devil The problem is that empirical research shows that the best deterrent comes from the highest possible chance of any punishment, while what we have is a low, sort of random chance of extreme punishment.
"The age of the large surface combatant is over"
"So you want a powerful radar on the next generation destroyer?"
"Yep"
"Ideally mounted up high for good horizon coverage?"
"Yeah"
"And a large VLS count for magazine depth?"
"Mhmm"
"So it's still going to be pretty big."
I mean yes. This matters a lot. It is extremely bad for you and for the country that you have all done massive epistemic damage to yourselves in this way.
When asked explicitly “who is my neighbor” Jesus tells a parable in which the answer is a persecuted racial minority which he deliberately sets up in contrast to the members of your tradition, blood, culture, etc who bear power and prestige
@Noahpinion The Baltics are in trouble.
But Poland and Finland have stuff Ukraine doesn’t have while Ukraine has stuff they don’t have.
Ukraine + Poland + Finland would be quite formidable.
@RichardHanania I actually think free markets and capitalism are sort of different. Like, you can have large accumulations of capital without free markets.
In fact, freer markets may make it harder to accumulate capital in some industries.
@NatSecLedger We currently have a 2.7 year delivery backlog assuming no additional FMS. We can invest in the sustainment industrial base for 3 years while still running new production at full capacity. We could then expand production once airframes become the constraint to sortie generation.
