If you looked at your charts today, you saw it: $HYPE ($74) has officially overtaken $SOL ($71.09) in raw dollar token price.

Here is the breakdown of the difference, the structural data, and why this happened. 👇

Unit price is an illusion. What matters is total network value (Market Cap).

Solana ($SOL): ~$71.09 | Supply: ~460M+ | Market Cap: ~$37B
Hyperliquid ($HYPE): ~$74 | Supply: ~222M | Market Cap: ~$16B
The Reality: Solana is still 2x larger than Hyperliquid. HYPE’s token price is higher simply because its circulating supply is less than half of SOL's.

2️⃣ Why Did HYPE Pump to an All-Time High?
HYPE hitting $73+ isn't a fluke. It's being driven by two massive factors:

Protocol Buybacks: Hyperliquid generates massive organic revenue from its dominant perps DEX, which is funneled into aggressive buybacks. This chokes the spot supply.

The Short Squeeze: Bears keep trying to top-signal HYPE and are getting absolutely obliterated. Millions in short liquidations are forcing bears to buy back, fueling a programmatic squeeze.

3️⃣ Ecosystem vs. App-Chain
Solana ($SOL): The monolithic Layer 1. The base layer for everything DeFi, DePIN, and the world's most liquid memecoin casino. It moves with macro liquidity.

Hyperliquid ($HYPE): A specialized, ultra-fast L1 built for a premier perpetual exchange. It captures value purely through trading volume, yield, and token mechanics.

HYPE flipped SOL on the sticker price due to a low float, massive DEX revenue, and a brutal short squeeze. But SOL still rules the broader ecosystem liquidity.
