@PaddyShanks@KJH19322252 Dominic, Seamus and I, were in A Wing together, both psychopaths, no question about that, however, the key point I was making was that the courts were restrained by the Constitution, and as they were appointed by the politicians, possibly also constrained by certain politicians.
@PaddyShanks@KJH19322252 In 1984, Dominic McClinchey and Seamus Shannon were extradited, two serious terrorists, both were acquited, as there was not enough evidence to convict, the Irish Constitution guarantees the right to fair procedures for all its citizens, the High Court bound by constitution.

Academic, feminist, freedom fighter, and politician. Hanna Sheehy-Skeffington became a template for the possibilities and necessities of women's places and powers in Irish and international politics.
British Dublin in 1912 was a city riddled with injustices targeting its colonised citizens. One unique to inequality, oppressing its female population, was the absence of Women's Suffrage in the Home Rule Bill. This half measure of human rights would not be tolerated.
Proud Nationalist suffragette Hanna Sheehy-Skeffington (1877-1946) protested by breaking the windows of Dublin Castle, the seat of the Empire in the city and a place where ladies "knew their place" as ornaments and silent servants.
For her activities, she was arrested and imprisoned in Mountjoy more than once. This scandalised society when the vast majority of female inmates were voiceless, poor "criminals," who stole or engaged in sex work to avoid starvation, not unofficial political prisoners. Though the iconic window breaking protest is often the only thing people know about her, it was just one act in a lifetime of brave achievements in her fight for justice.
Coming from a privileged background paradoxically influenced her desire for equality. She could've easily availed of what was considered a "charmed life" for a lady but instead chose academia and activism.
Highly intelligent and well-travelled, she became a teacher in her alma mater, the Dominican Convent on Eccles Street, and earned several degrees. She found a soulmate in her equally progressive and patriotic husband, Francis Skeffington.
In honour of their beliefs, he decided he would take her surname with his own when they married, a symbol of their equality. They even married in their respective academic gowns to further focus on their equal relationship.
During the 1913 Lockout, she assisted in distributing food to strikers' families and engaged in planning suffragette activities in Liberty Hall. Hanna Sheehy-Skeffington went on to co-found the Irish Women Workers’ Union, the Irish Women’s Franchise League, and the Irish Citizens newspaper. When 1916 came, Hanna, like her more famous husband, answered the patriot's call.
She risked her life bringing intelligence messages and food to the GPO, as well as other roles in the Rising. Sadly, her beloved husband was killed in the fighting. Due to the fog of war, she didn't realise she'd been widowed for a few days.
After the Rising, she continued her Nationalist and Feminist activities. She published anti-British imperialist books and, after joining its executive, represented Sinn Féin in the USA, raising awareness for Irish independence.
She would also briefly hold a high position in Fianna Fáil before returning to Sinn Féin for the remainder of her life, even being imprisoned in the North for campaigning for Irish unity.

Belfast City Council has mysteriously found a £1.9m underspend from last year, unused on correction of litter, potholes, graffiti, blocked drains etc, to be wasted to enforce an Irish language advertising campaign on ratepayers who don't want it in their local area.
BCC lawyers say it won't "adversely affect" unionists ratepayers, though they do not explain whether this would be a physical or emotional affect.
