@SustanciaC77 @MrOvis2 The teachers should have a healthy mix of both. Making sure the kids don't forget not every threat comes from the end of a wand is a healthy life lesson. Keep them on their toes, constant vigilence!

I like the *later* implications of the bet premise. Harry loses the bet and asks her out, unexpectectly enjoying himself and finding a different side of her.

And malfoid, who also really enjoyed herself, despite herself, starts to soften. They enjoy themselves then and a few times after. But he is wracked with guilt as it develops further and feels the need to be honest. She is then devastated to learn it was all a bet.

It adds angst, sets them up for a tumultuous crash in books 5 and 6.
