Karl Hale, Toronto tournament director, says he’s very confident that Jannik Sinner & Carlos Alcaraz will be in Montreal next year, ‘I said ‘2026 you’re gonna be in Montreal. Just make sure that happens’
“As far as the top player withdrawals, it’s definitely not what we want. Draper is out for Cincinnati as well in the season. Novak is out for Cincinnati as well. So those players were injuries. I think Carlos and Sinner have to look at our tour, the ATP Tour, and commit to these majors. So we’re in talks with them to ensure that going forward that they’ll be participating in our event. Also next year there’s 3 weeks between Wimbledon and Montreal. Where this year, it was two weeks. It was a really tight turnaround.”
“The calendar is an issue. It’s too long. There are too many tournaments. Too many 250s and 500s. The Saudi event is coming. So we’re talking about how that will look going forward. I think they’ll be announcing very shortly what the Saudi event will look like and then the tour at large.”
“I actually told them [Sinner and Alcaraz], because we were in talks when they withdrew, we talked to them for several days and then I said ‘Okay, we’re here… 2026 you’re gonna be in Montreal. Just make sure that happens.’ I’m very very confident that they’ll be in Montreal next year and I don’t think it’s an issue because of what we’re doing with the tours and the bonus pools and all of those things and also the 3 weeks between our tournaments next year.”

The root of the Russia-Ukraine war is that Ukrainians intend to live as we (Westerners) live, while their enemies intend to eradicate that way of life, and that set of ideas, by force. Not just for Ukrainians but for us too, via Novichok, Polonium 210, nuclear threats, torrents of lies, suborning leaders, treachery, etc. Or by openly spreading their world-view, that the West is weak, failing and despicable, to Westerners made cynical and defeatist, or even admiring, by the success of all those tactics.
Basically the same holds for Hamas-Iran v. Israel and the West.
"Thucydides repeatedly refers to, but never endorses, the idea that the strong have the freedom to do what they want: to the contrary, a careful reading of The Peloponnesian War suggests a rather different view. Among the principal lessons to learn from Thucydides is that the ambition of the strong can lead to their own undoing. Right after Thucydides reports the fateful words of the Athenian envoys and the subsequent destruction of Melos, he describes at great length the disastrous campaign Athens pursued in Sicily—an effort that eventually led to Athenian defeat and Spartan victory. In this light, the Melian Dialogue is not proof of the great virtue of strength in international relations but an illustration of pride before the fall."

My advice to anyone starting out:
Develop a very strong opinion about yourself.
Know exactly who you are & who you are not.
If you don't, someone else will try to tell you who you are, and you might just start believing them.
People focus on all the wrong things, and then wonder why their lives are a mess.
Do not allow the world to lead you around by the nose.
You need to set your own priorities & your own focus.
Ignore the noise, and create your own life.
Since it's summer, and more or less internship and tech interview season, I made all 30 chapters of my Machine Learning Q and AI book freely available for the summer:

Hope it’s helpful! Happy reading, and good luck if you are interviewing!
Some people have to hate their current situation so much, that it forces them to make a change.
- Don’t be the person only pushed by misery.
Make changes when you feel the tide turning..
Correct everything early & live a happier life.
You practice and practice until practice becomes routine, you pay respect to routine until routine becomes ritual, and when routine becomes ritual, that's when the magic happens: life becomes art, and every movement of thought and body becomes charged with intention, meaning, aim
