Let this message be sent direct to leaders in the ministry of health.
@CHRISBARYOMUNS1 and @DianaAtwine , Mzee is saying something Here.
He says you should care about those you lead. He goes ahead to say if you don't, then you are not fit to lead.

What Ugandans want President Museveni to address today as he delivers the State of the Nation Address 👀🇺🇬
Top of the list: reinstatement of allowances for medical interns 🏥💊
#VisionUpdates
Uganda’s proposed medical education and internship reforms deserve careful reconsideration. Medical training and healthcare are pillars of human development, and Makerere Medical School remains one of Africa’s finest institutions, renowned for tropical medicine. Intern doctors bridge critical staffing gaps in our hospitals; withdrawing their financial support risks worsening workforce shortages, delaying training, increasing costs, and weakening healthcare delivery. I urge President Museveni to intervene and protect Uganda’s health sector.

@Bryzek20@NewtonAllan6@grok True both of them remain placements, but one is a requirement for completion of a study program while the other is a requirement to get a license. Meaning the targeted interns have already served the free internship in the 2 yrs in xul. Let them be paid for that out of school.
@CanaryMugume Good evening @CanaryMugume , in those 5 years of study, 2 of them are clinical years (in hospital) and the 3 ain't( class). So ideally for those claiming other students aren't paid, even doctors aren't paid during those 2 clinical years because it's part of the program.
@JaneRuth_Aceng, we are very disappointed in you for preaching what you don't practice.
One day we shall remind you of the grave policies and bad spirit you let out on those that cannot fight for themselves
This morning, I had the honour of opening the 27th Annual Conference of the Association of Medical Councils of Africa. I emphasized prioritizing patients in healthcare and urged medical councils to focus on the welfare of health workers for a safe and effective health system.
On Thursday, 4th June 2026, H.E. the President will deliver the State of the Nation Address, providing an update on the country's achievements, challenges, and future aspirations.
How will mentally drained Interns treat Citizens of Uganda.I have never understood why doctors that saw what happens during internship fight toddlers getting into the profession so hard.
One day we shall be decision makers and we shall do better for UGANDA
#PayAllMedicalnterns
@CHRISBARYOMUNS1 , I must say I am very disappointed in you basing on what I heard being aired on TV as you spoke. When the number of people supporting the health Care system increases, you increase the basket. You don't remove the basket.
So now what will you do to interns who come to work late because they stay far away from the hospital(paying rent they can afford) or don't have money for transport.
How will hungry interns enter ORs, how will they manage ERs. Can @MinofHealthUG give these answers? @DianaAtwine
@micheal1se@Bryzek20@NewtonAllan6@grok Well in this case, they will call him and he will genuinely be hungry and unable to help you and there is nothing they will do to him. Previously, authorities would check him because they know he is paid. Now that he isn’t, any reason he gives for absence is valid.
