When the Ukraine war started, a church in North Brisbane put up a sign on their lawn.

"End of Russia is coming"

It stayed up for weeks. I drove past it regularly. Couldn't stop thinking about it.

A church. Predicting the end of a nation. Celebrating it. On their official signboard.

Here's what gets me:

If I put up a sign in front of my house saying "end of Ukraine is coming," I'd face consequences. Probably get reported. Maybe worse.

But a church can openly call for Russia's end. No pushback. No one questions it. Just sits there for weeks like it's normal.

Serbs always saw Russians and Ukrainians as brothers. Both helped liberate Serbia from the same forces attacking them now. That's why this felt wrong.

It's not about picking sides. It's about what's acceptable to say publicly.

You can wish for Russia's end. Put it on a church sign. Leave it up for weeks.

But the reverse? That's hate speech.

That's the part that's been bugging me since 2022.

On this day in 1967, Argentine revolutionary Che Guevara was executed on the orders of the CIA after he had been captured by the Bolivian Army.

When Mario Terán, the soldier who would execute him, entered the room, Guevara reportedly said “I know you’ve come to kill me. Shoot, coward! You are only going to kill a man.”

In death, Che Guevara would become the iconic symbol of revolutionary martyrdom; giving up his own life with no fear, for the cause of fighting oppression and liberating others. 

As a young medical student, he traveled across Latin America on his motorbike and was appalled by the sheer amount of disease, hunger, and poverty across the continent. 

He began to view Latin America as dominated and exploited by US capitalism, a belief that hardened after the CIA orchestrated the coup against Guatemala’s President Jacobo Arbenz, destroying much of the reforms he had implemented. 

In Mexico City, he met two brothers who shared his ideas; Fidel and Raul Castro. From that moment he joined the 26th of July Movement and became instrumental in the success of the Cuban Revolution and the destruction of the US-backed Batista dictatorship. 

In Cuba’s government, he spearheaded a successful and rapid literacy campaign, enacted land reform to distribute land from bourgeois land owners to Cuban peasants, and played a key role in defeating the CIA’s Bay of Pigs Invasion. 

After succeeding in Cuba, Guevara left Cuba to assist revolutionary struggles abroad. He would be captured by CIA-backed Bolivian forces.

Murals, paintings and pictures of Che Guevara can be found all over the world in the poorest areas. 59 years after his death, Che remains a global symbol of hope, resistance, and fighting oppression.

then every Romanian should be asking questions.

Justice must not become politics by another name.

Cristela Georgescu stood there today not simply as the wife of a political figure.

She stood there as a wife, a mother, and a Romanian citizen demanding that the basic principles of justice still mean something.

She deserves to be heard.

Călin Georgescu deserves due process.

And Romania deserves a justice system that is beyond political interference — from any side.

Presumption of innocence is not a privilege.
It is a foundation of a free society.

As my readers know, the fascist leader in Italy was a British agent.

"Fascism" was created in London: Simultaneous new parties and movements across Europe, speech writers, uniform designers, media campaigns after Europe had been devastated by world war I while Britain had their agents everywhere. There was obvious British involvement in the fascist takeovers in Spain, Portugal. Hitler was likely recruited in 1913 when he spent almost a year in Britain with his British in-laws. See the book by Bridget Hitler. Hence his astonishing Anglophilia. And hence Dunkirk. Can't end the second world war before it really got going, and without doing his main job.

That was to make war on Russia, just like the job of today's puppets running Germany for the same type of forces.
