"Why won't Ukrainians cede land?" I hear people say. "It's just land. Why are they so stubborn? Why do they like war so much?" Ukrainians and other Eastern Europeans know what Russian occupation is. And they naturally do all they can to resist it.
Russia is not being forthcoming, but it's worth asking:
1. Did a young woman working in a Siberian research lab die from a leak of the plague pathogen?
2. Was the research being done for antidotes or to develop a biological weapon? https://t.co/ie7iPSP2Ji
Not dead, only resting. Of all the country’s fake parliamentary opposition parties, it is Russia’s Communists who are still showing signs – very, very limited signs – of still remembering that their job is sometimes to oppose.
On Sunday, Communists and others gathered in Moscow to mark the 1993 ‘October Coup’, when Boris Yeltsin settled a constitutional face-off with an unruly legislature by shelling it into surrender. They were also protesting last month’s comprehensively rigged elections.
When some began chanting ‘down with the Tsar!’, ‘we want fair elections’ and ‘down with the party of crooks and thieves’, the police moved in.

Trump just made this disgustingly BIGOTED post claiming that the riots in France are related is Islam.
The riots are actually over the condition of the public education system.
The movement started around September 17, 2026, in the Paris suburbs and spread nationwide. Students are protesting teacher shortages, overcrowded classrooms, deteriorating school buildings, long school days, academic pressure, and what they say is inadequate education funding.
Saudi Arabia is pumping 5.8m b/d through its key cross-country East-West pipeline, Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman said — the first official announcement on the conduit’s flow after an attack in early September. Pre-attack, the pipe carried ~7m b/d.
MSF says that Israel is "progressively asphyxiating" Gaza. The conditions for people's survival are being "systematically destroyed" through sustained violence, "deliberate" blockade of essential supplies and the destruction of healthcare & infrastructure. https://t.co/O8obMKEGEZ
Russia is deliberately targeting iconic American businesses in Ukraine with missiles and drones - hitting and destroying facilities belonging to Coca-Cola, Boeing, PepsiCo, McDonalds, Cargill, Oreo and many more members of the American @ChamberUkraine
An intentional assault on American economic interests and a direct humiliation of U.S. enterprise.
Yet, the White House remains silent.
When American interests are being hit, silence is not a strategy, but an invitation for more escalation. It's time to speak up and protect American interests. Hold Moscow accountable.
Germany’s intelligence chiefs have just said something Europe should pay attention to.
The threat Russia was expected to pose by 2029 is, in the hybrid domain, already here.
Germany’s BND says the confrontation has taken on a “new, more dangerous quality”. The country’s domestic intelligence service says sabotage, espionage, cyber operations and other hostile activity are no longer preparation for some future confrontation. They are part of the confrontation already under way.
And that creates a dangerous paradox.
Russia appears to want coercion without war. It wants to intimidate, disrupt and weaken Europe while staying safely below NATO’s Article 5 threshold.
But every additional sabotage operation, drone incursion and proxy attack increases the chance of a mistake, casualties or damage serious enough that NATO can no longer call it “hybrid”.
Russia may not be testing whether NATO knows what an attack looks like.
It may be testing how much violence it can introduce into Europe before everyone is forced to admit that one has already begun.
A new poll:
79% of Ukrainians living in Ukraine believe that Ukraine will win the war (47% firmly believe this, while 32% are inclined to think so). Only 7% believe Russia will win. Another 14% did not give a definite answer. Since the summer, the share of those firmly convinced that Ukraine will win has declined somewhat, while the share of those who lean toward believing that Ukraine will win, but are not firmly convinced, has increased.
At the same time, 41% believe the most likely scenario for the end of the war is that Ukraine will preserve its statehood and independence but suffer territorial losses (in effect, a freeze along the current front line, without recognizing the occupied territories as part of Russia).
Meanwhile, 53% believe that Ukraine will, to one degree or another, be able to end the war by liberating all or some of the territories occupied by Russia: 14% believe Ukraine will restore the status quo that existed before February 24, 2022; 4% believe Ukraine will liberate Donetsk and Luhansk; 23% believe it will liberate all occupied territories, including Crimea; and 12% believe it will liberate all occupied territories and carry the fighting onto Russian territory.
75% consider negotiations with Russia to end the war acceptable, while 21% consider them unacceptable.
At the same time, 69% would support an immediate, complete, mutual ceasefire along the current front line, while refusing to recognize the occupied territories as part of Russia, continuing to strengthen the military, and continuing Ukraine’s path toward the EU and NATO. 22% would oppose such an arrangement.
62% also said they are prepared to endure the hardships of war for as long as necessary. 23% said they could endure them for several more months to six months, and 4% for another year. And despite the massive aerial terror campaign against the city, 72% of Kyiv residents likewise said they are prepared to endure for as long as necessary.

South Korea sold fuel to Russia using two vessels (Layla and Astoria) under EU/UK sanctions.
Quite a bad look for Seoul as it claims high moral standing in its PoWs spat with Kyiv.

Elle sait que dans les temps populistes que nous vivons et dont elle profite, le réalisme des programmes et la véracité des chiffres n’ont aucune importance pour ses électeurs. Trump nous le prouve tous les jours.
Significant escalation in the Black Sea this morning, Russian drones have hit two ships in Bulgaria's EEZ (one has reportedly been sunk). Neither ship was heading to or from Ukraine. Russia appears to be targeting all trade in the Black Sea.
⚡️Lithuania takes 1st step to lift nuclear weapons ban amid Russian threat.
Lithuania's parliament voted on Oct. 6 to advance a constitutional change that would remove the country's ban on deploying nuclear weapons on its territory.
The move comes as Vilnius seeks to strengthen its deterrence amid growing security concerns in the region because of Russia's aggressive posture.

🇩🇪Germany's AfD weighs a shift from its anti-🇪🇺EU roots, strategy paper shows, contemplating a more moderate ideological platform.
The key proposal is to transform EU into a looser alliance of sovereign nations, modifying the underlying treaties.
Referendum on Gernany’s future in EU would be held, if the treaty reforms fail.
National opt-outs should be still on the table, according to AfD, with exemptions for Germany on migration, fiscal policy, and joint debt.
But AfD would stop its outright opposition to the Euro.
The party’s delegates will vote on platform changes next year. It aims to enter federal government by 2029.
Another piece of evidence that the platform you run with - is not necessarily the platform you govern with?
⚡️Russian strikes kill 13, injure 104 across Ukraine, damage Kryvyi Rih hospital.
Overall, overnight on Oct. 6, Russian forces launched 137 Shahed-type attack drones, including 49 jet-powered versions, as well as Gerbera and Parodiya decoy drones, Ukraine's Air Force said.
