Health workers are the foundation of every health system. Yet South Sudan has only 7.9 health workers per 10,000 people - less than one-fifth of the @WHO benchmark of 44.5.

.@WHOSouthSudan, through the Health Sector Transformation Project (HSTP), supported the Ministry of Health (@MoHRSS2011) to review progress on the 2025–2026 Annual Operational Plans (AOPs) across all 10 states and develop the first-ever AOPs for the three administrative areas.
Stronger health systems start with stronger health workers. This week, frontline healthcare providers from across South Sudan are building skills to prevent, detect, and manage noncommunicable diseases & mental health conditions using the @WHO PEN M approach. #PENM#HealthForAl
This week, @WHOSouthSudan begins consultations across 10 states & 3 admin. Areas to revise key health policies & guidelines, including the Basic Package of Health & Nutrition Services, Treatment Guidelines, Essential Medicines Lists, and the Blood Transfusion Services Strategy.
Today @MOHSouthSudan with support from @WHOSouthSudan inaugurated a multi-stakeholders and multi-disciplinary technical working group to coordinate the review and updating the basic package of health and nutrition services through a comprehensive consultative process.
Getting active is the first important step in the battle against non-communicable diseases. Also, In today's football tournament in Juba, @WHOSouthSudan competed against @undpsouthsudan & @WFP_SouthSudan to champion health for all.
