📢 #PCA Reminder – Registration deadline for public hearing in PCA Case No. 2024-45: UK-Sandeel (The European Union v. The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland)
The Arbitration Tribunal has scheduled a public hearing in this matter at the Peace Palace, The Hague, for 28 January 2025 to 30 January 2025. Members of the diplomatic corps and general public, as well as press representatives, are welcome to follow the hearing in-person, subject to prior registration with the PCA.
📅 The registration deadline expires on Thursday, 23 January 2025.
Confirmation of attendance will be communicated on Friday, 24 January 2025.

🌏 On 15 October 2024, the @PCA_CPA commemorated its 125th Anniversary with a special panel event as part of Australian Arbitration Week.
⚖️ Following a warm welcome from #ACICA Senior Advisor Deborah Tomkinson, the event featured opening remarks by The Hon Stephen Gageler AC, Chief Justice of @HighCourtofAus 🇦🇺 & #PCA Member of the Court. His Honour shared his reflections on Australia’s relationship with the #PCA, including through the interactions between the Australian judiciary and the #PCA.
💬 The panel, moderated by #PCA Legal Counsel Bryce Williams, offered a range of expert perspectives on the #PCA’s relationship with #Australia and the Pacific in the past, present and future:
🔹 Bill Campbell AO KC, Honorary Professor at @ANU_Law, shared valuable insights into Australia’s historical engagement with the #PCA, including through Australia’s Members of the Court. 🇦🇺
🔹 Judith Levine, Independent Arbitrator & #ACICA President, explored the present relationship between Australia and the PCA, reflecting on the deep and multi-faceted contributions of Australians to the #PCA as arbitrators, counsel, as well as through the International Bureau. 🏛
🔹 Gitanjali Bajaj, Partner at DLA Piper & ACICA Vice-President, reflected on her experience as counsel to #TimorLeste 🇹🇱 (the PCA’s newest Contracting Party), highlighting the value of #PCA support to the pioneering Timor Sea Conciliation, and as well as the broader significance of the proceedings for the region. 🤝
🔹 Angelyne Roy, Parliamentary Counsel, Office of the Attorney-General of #Vanuatu 🇻🇺 shed light on Vanuatu’s recent accession to the 1907 Hague Convention, and the future of Vanuatu’s engagement with dispute resolution and the #PCA.
The event was kindly co-hosted with the Australian Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (ACICA) at @DLA_Piper’s #Brisbane office.

✒ #OTD in 1899, the delegates of the First #HaguePeaceConference signed the Final Act of the Conference, officially establishing the first global mechanism for the settlement of disputes between States: the @PCA_CPA.
⚖ 2024 marks the 125th Anniversary of the First Hague Peace Conference & the
