I knew, and so did many of us. Yet we can't fix our system because we keep electing the same corrupt people back into government. Most people stop caring about elections because their thoughts are consumed by work, family life, and savings.

If we were paying attention, they'd see that a large chunk of our hard-earned income is diverted to NGOs and causes that frequently enrich politically connected elites rather than helping those who truly need assistance. That's the real game: making the rich richer while the poor get poorer.

We are often trapped in a cycle of multitasking, trying to get more done and pay the bills, which ironically leads to a deep sense of disconnection from what is really happening in politics—even though politics should be a significant part of our daily lives as well.
