Tonight at 7 and tomorrow at 2 pm in Salomon Theatre are your last chances to see the play! The script covers themes of racism, sexism, and faith that might be intriguing to my fellow lit nerds! Hope to see you there! #PoCo19
I may be reading too much into this, but I have been noticing some similarities between T.S. Elliot’s “Wasteland” and some of the excerpts from “Pluriverse.” In both works, an in-depth understanding of context and allusions are essential for analysis. #PoCo19
and YES I know I used everyday instead of every day which doesn’t even make sense because we only have the class tues thurs but ya know the existential crisis is eternal #PoCo19
I wish we had a bit more time to discuss this in class, sooo what did you make of the ending of TAOMM? What did it make you feel? What did it communicate to you about Xuela? What does it assert about possible ways to respond to colonization and its lasting effects? #PoCo19
I continue to find the character of Xuela's father incredibly fascinating. The way X portrays him as being a direct product of colonialism is quite interesting, considering that he falls victim to perpetuating the power dynamics that contribute his own marginalization. #PoCo2019
@GracieR54910845 This quote is beautiful! I love how Roy offers meaning and action through the importance of literature and story-telling. Though sometimes I feel like all I am doing is reading books, I forget the power of sharing the narratives that I read in my classes. #PoCo19
@UtterlyinShane The application of these philosophies to TAOMM were very thought-provoking. I find it so interesting that although the book doesn't include much dialogue, the power and affect of language is felt very deeply by Xuela. #PoCo19
I have been looking into the activism of Greta Thunberg recently. A lot of her lifestyle choices are incredibly inspiring and reminiscent of many of the themes we have been discussing in class. I highly recommend looking into her work and speeches! #PoCo19
The video we watched in class on Thursday was super intriguing to me. I am interested to see how we might apply the arguments of the video to the issues of race in TAOMM. #PoCo19
@GracieR54910845 This was also a quote that resonated with me. I feel like this phrase also alludes the idea of a small god that is all too often associated with colonialist ideologies. #PoCo19p
@andrewj_hansen She went into detail about how Christianity began as a religion of political and social minorities. It wasn’t always seen as the religion of empire and western culture that we know it as today. #PoCo19
Last night I was able to watch an incredibly insightful interview of Lisa Sharon Harper. She did a wonderful job of explaining Jesus as having been colonized as a result of his Jewish indigenous background in a way that I have never considered before. She was amazing!! #PoCo19
