Year 5 are currently learning about 3-Dimensional objects! Today, we had the opportunity to construct our own square-based pyramids, cuboids and pentagonal prisms! 🔺◽️🔹

In History, we are learning about why British and Irish Migrants left their homeland prior to 1850! We are also learning about cause and effect, recognising how one event could lead to a chain of consequences, eventually resulting in migration to the new colonies! 🌏📜⚓️

Today, my year 2 class visited The Royal National Park which is part of our English/Geography (informative writing).
Students were able to immerse themselves within nature, learning about the park’s flora and fauna and its beautiful landscapes #acuedu_p

Jill Bell from the Royal National Park Environmental Education Centre visited Year 5 for our ‘Investigating Energy’ incursion. Students had the opportunity to power light bulbs using the energy bike and eat garlic bread that had been heated using solar energy! 🚴☀️

In Year 5, we have been learning all about different types of energy and how energy can be transferred! On Friday, my students had the opportunity to work through a variety of stations exploring thermal energy, mechanical energy, light energy and sound energy! 💡🏎🌡📣

In our Week 4 EDFD452 tutorial, we discussed assessment and it’s purpose. I believe that assessment is an effective tool used by educators to monitor student growth and development. It is also an excellent informant for differentiation. #acuedu_p

We have a ‘Word of the Week’ display in year 5 and each week, the word changes based on the new Tier 3 vocabulary being learnt across different KLAs. This week, I challenged students to suggest how they could uphold the Human Dignity of others during this season of Lent. ✝️

Hands-on learning experiences are an excellent lesson hook and introduction to content! Year 5 loved exploring their electrical circuits and attempting to power the light bulb! 💡
