Notice that James called God’s Word, “the perfect law of liberty,” not, "the perfect law of judgment,” which many people believe. This teaches us that there is liberty in Jesus, not bondage.

To know God’s perfect law of liberty is to be both hearers and doers of His Word.

Unlike the fickleness of this world, God and Jesus, whom we love and serve, are unchanging.

The epistle of James is believed to have been written between A.D. 45-48, before the Jerusalem Council of Acts 15. It is a didactic or instructional epistle, where we find at least 54 commands as to how we ought to be or become “Doers of the Word.”
